Please fix or remove housing!

PREFACE:

There are an unfathomable number of players not getting to experience FFXIV content properly because you [SE] have an entire feature-set locked to the minority of the populace right now.

I: The Basics

SE knows very well that people own numerous plots, and hold them to sell for exorbitant amounts of gil in-game. There's nothing in place to prevent someone from making an alt, transferring gil, and holding plots. This at the very least is the one thing that needs to change. Owning a house, personally, should be locked to a single account - that is all the characters in a single world...not just to a single character.

II: Recourse

I feel anyone who has a hold on more than one plot, should be punished. Any who have sold (and I feel SE should take the time to parse logs and figure out exactly who they are) should be banned, permanently. It's as offensive as RMT is. Seriously.

We pay hard earned money to play this game, there is no reason why anyone should be locked from a feature set, or forced to play with over-populated FCs where they don't get a chance to participate because: 2 full parties worth of static members get dibs on the facilities and access.

III: Ideas, Anyone?

If anything, player housing should be instanced. FCs honestly don't need wards either - its cumbersome even navigating them - so by all means instance FC housing too.

Another idea is to add the ability for apartments to have shared workshops and airships.


IV: Are You [SE] Insulting Us?

The nonsense about server resources being the reason for limited plots....seriously? Get rid of the ward system - problem solved. Still not enough? Get rid of apartments...

I understand you may have heard this rant a million times over, but nothing is changing - and it needs to!!

Forums the net over rant and rant about this. Players in-game rant about this. We've seen remarks from SE concerning this but they have only given us replies that do nothing to curb the anxiety of this whole mess.

Please do not go into stormblood, adding yet more wards where the exact same thing will happen. And please do not open stormblood allowing existing plot holders to transfer and get first dibs on new plots - that is, if you do happen to disregard the millions of your paying subscribers requesting that you fix this.

Even Anarchy Online, an ugly 2001 game, can manage instanced CITIES. It might be dead now but that game was plenty packed back in its time....there's no reason the leading game producing company - SE - can't make this work for everyone. I know you can do it!!! Not enough resources? Use the money we pay you to make more. Its really that easy.

You can edit your posts to get around the character limit in future. :) We can hope they do something new with the expansion, but whatever plans they have made at this point are fairly well set going forward. Apartments were just added and aren't likely to be tossed to the side and there's enough love for the ward system that it's not likely to be scrapped. Perhaps they'll add instanced housing in the future, but I feel they'll likely continue down the path of using the ward system with the rare new area cropping up. The closest thing to instanced housing we'll ever see will likely be bandaid additions to the apartments so they'll be able to garden and such. Being that apartments are individuals only it's not likely they'll get airship access.

Yea it's unfortunate, though I don't mean nor want that they should literally remove apartments etc, I just meant to portray how serious of an issue it is for some people (like myself).

Personally I'd like to see a single ward in each area, and as all the layouts are exactly the same; Each plot can be clicked on, the housing unit desired to be entered (or purchased) selected, and the particulars can be sorted from there. Perhaps there should be a singular access point, and when you enter the area your FC's building or personal estate is what shows on the plot. To get people to your instance you simply invite them or have them in party.

I get that people like having ownership of a single building in a finite plot space, and that we get to design the exterior and put on live-plays, etc. However, I feel that this is not important as people being able to enjoy the content in its entirety.

That's exactly how I read it too. OP, for a minute I thought you might be on Balmung. Is your server overpopulated or have you just not tried hard enough? I'm still seeing open lots just about every night on my server.

Well I mean, it sounds to me like you're saying: "If everybody gets to have it then I don't want it." A little greedy huh? Do you already have a house, or are you just one of the people knit-picking peoples words to sound cool or present yourself favorably to the 'other side'?

Of course I'm saying if not everybody can enjoy it, then remove it. It's one thing that someone won't enjoy something because they don't want to put in the grind - it's another entirely when one CAN'T enjoy something because the creators didn't think things through completely with regards to people being greedy, intolerant, and inherently fancying themselves 'special-er' than others.

Im on Sarg, where the New World Order resides. Its over-populated and filled with legacy players and rich players. There are no plots open. The only ones available are listed in party finder from time to time prior to someone leaving the server, or when people want iron-works gear.

Apartments can look nice. You just have to learn to use your space more efficiently.

I'd be quite happy with an apartment (assuming I could get one as I'm on Balmung lol) if it came with gardening.
That's all I really want a house for tbh. I'm in a large fc and I do all my crafting and chill stuff there so I don't really need a house in a ward. The garden there is used to produce chocobo foods for the fc (which is nice) so I don't have access to it. I've got my 2 little pots but they mostly keep my chocobo in nibbles and I'd like to grow some flowers :(
Even if they added the ability to have more pots and cross breed if you put them near each other would be ok with me. Though an instanced allotment would be awesome!

Edited to add I'm a new player and the gardening was one of the things I was most interested in. I started the game on a smaller server where I could of had a house but didn't know anyone and found it difficult to find people to play with. I moved to Balmung because I knew people there, knowing that my gardening dream was probably going to be just that and I don't regret it. It would just be nice if all players (who are all paying the same amount each month) could have equal chance to get everything.
