I am a little ashamed to admit almost every week when I revisit ole Neo Faust Z I have this thought.
And why he doesn't just keep his jetpack??
While that was 90% joke and 9% American Pie reference, one might argue ... sure! (But no, not really.)
The Encyclopædia Eorzea refers to the present-day, Illuminati-summoned Alexander as "the primal manifestation of the ideals of Quickthinx Allthoughts". It is an Auri technologist's self-sustaining, mobile bastion of reason and logic warped by one goblin's vision of a perfect world. It just happened to be that primal summoning was the most efficient way of making this ideal a reality. The primal miiight have certain quirks due to this. (Moar like Quirkthinx Warpedthoughts.) But no.
I think the "spoon" might be a lever allowing various machinery to be attached and removed from the panzer doll's back.
It looks like a way to eject the steam engine, crown thing, and/or jetpack - allowing them to be changed as needed.
I just read the question, heard Steve Stifler reply in my my head, imagined Quickthinx yelling it while making obscene gestures (group activity: imagine your own here), and my id posted before I thought better of it, lol.
Spoon for cheesemaking?
but seriously i think its leftover from the animation rig. Faust shares its rig with the sahagin, who have a back fin. Perhaps they added the spoon to make it easier to just apply the rig without any changes?
idk
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
