Leveling with a new player and replaying the story

So I recently invited a friend to play FFXIV with me after talking it up to him for months, and finally he bought the game to play with me. I already had a level 50 character but I figured I would just make a new class to play with him, except I mostly followed him around, waited while he was in cutscenes, and sat there while he examined things I couldn't see. I couldn't even do the quests in the surrounding areas with him because I had already done them on my first playthrough. Quickly it was evident he was getting bored as he felt he was playing the game by himself.

There should be a way for us to replay the story or quests we have already done on new jobs. Or at least allow us to share the quest someone else is doing so we can see the cutscenes and do the same interactions. I want to have access to all my Gil, my two person mount, and have the ability to have multiple jobs on one character. Replaying the story would ease the tedium of leveling multiple jobs as well.
