Cannot complete Main Story Line quest

Steps:
1. Spoke the the quest NPC in Foundation who gave me entrance to Coerthas Western Highlands via his flying Chocobo. I entered the zone Coerthas Western Highlands to complete the quest "Work in Progress" After entering I forgot to Attune to the Aetheryte in Falcon's Nest and left the zone before completing the quest.
2. After returning to Foundation where I entered Coerthas Western Highlands I could not enter again. The guard near the gate states you need a flying mount to enter which I have not been given yet.
3. I have no way of returning to Coerthas Western Highlands to complete my main story line. I cannot enter through Foundation or the Sea of Clouds.

It will offer transport for 5 gils to Falcon's Nest

And I feel you, I got confused as well with how to teleport around in my initial steps around Foundation.
