Lost Craft Frustration
I've lost many crafts due to disconnection. While i understand the necessity of this feature, I wish it were easier to replace something expensive being lost to a mass disconnection. I lost something I was crafting for a friend that I cannot afford to replace the other night, through no fault of my own. I cannot get a straight answer from anyone about how to potentially fix the situation.

Unfortunately all you can really do is take steps to minimise the chances of it happening:
A) Craft in quiet places with few people around (like inside a house/apartment). The less people around you then the less network traffic you're sending/receiving.
B) Connect with a wired connection, instead of wirelessly. Although the problem is likely outside your house, using wired would eliminate the chance of a drop out.
C) Get an ISP that doesn't route your traffic through Level 3 (may not be an option for you though...)
D) Definitely don't try and craft anything important if there are known issues with network routing (usually Level 3...) and others are dropping off etc.
Sorry I appreciate that's not a lot of help, but due to the nature of the Internet, unless you're literally sat inside SE's network, there's a lot of places where problems could potentially pop up.

Essentially it's a problem you cannot control. Maybe at some point Square will implement something to continue a craft upon logging back in, until then you're at your connection's mercy.

They don't want to have it automatically restore crafting materials, for fear that a craft going bad will simply cause someone to force a disconnection.
They really should make it so that each step you make in a craft saves the state of that craft, and if you get disconnected, it loads that state back up. Won't help for food buffs (or FC buffs) that expire while you are trying to get back in, but will help with everything else.
