when they had put the snowman suit into the mog station (december 2014) they had not invented the non-tradable versions of items yet. so yeah, i tink they have forgotten about it after they invented the non-tradeable items... -

All they did was make it unsellable to a vendor to prevent mistakes, if I had to take a guess, as that's the only difference with the original barding I have found.
