Hey I just realized my hud on my alt isn't the same as the one on my main and I've looked everywhere for a way to transfer my HUD between characters. Is it even possible to save it on one character and load it on an alt? Or am I going to have to manually rearrange my hud to be as close to my other hud as possible?
You can copy it to another character (Alongside other things). Go into /Documents/My Games/FFXIV A Realm Reborn. There is a folder for each of your characters named FFXIV_CHRxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Open the right one and you will see some files called "Hotbar","Macro",(...). Just copy what you want and replace the files in your other characters folder with that. There is no real indicator wich folder is wich character, but usually your main characters folder has the highest amount of megabytes. Maybe create a copy of the folders first before you play around with that.
I do this a lot and it's easy to discover which of the FFXIV_CHR folders apply to each character, if you log into one then log out again and look at the files in each folder you'll find one folder where a couple of so of the files have a timestamp of when you just logged out. I create a .TXT file in the game folder where I simply record each folder and character name for future reference.
From personal experience I know you can create a brand new character, log out immediately and you'll see a brand new folder, you can then cut/paste the entire contents of one of the others into this new one and when you log in you'll see the entire HUD/macro/gear/etc. info on the new character, which is what I tend to do and then I can simply change things I want .. you can of course be more selective, most of the files' names are somewhat intuitive as to what they contain, such as the HUD data.
I am so sorry. I didn't include the fact that I'm playing exclusively on a regular ps4 console.
It's unfortunately not possible on PS4.
I wish it was. I'm a PS4 player with multiple alts, too. It'd be so nice to be able to save my HUD from one of them and copy it to another.
I too am a PS4 player with multiple alts and I share your pain. Rearranging that HUD more than once is so annoying.
