How reliably can you double-weave?

Hello! How reliably can you double-weave oGCD's at max level? There are lots of abilities I would love to do it with, but the animations just take so LONG. I often end up delaying a GCD by a small bit, which is a nightmare.

Drg is built into their rotation. You have to double weave.

To provide a super basic spit-ball estimate, your ping should be less than 4% of your GCD. (Probably closer to 3.5% for some, and that percentage probably varies when moving further from tests at a 2.4s GCD.)

E.g. ≤100 ms @ ≤2.4 s GCD

In actuality though, not all oGCDs have the same animation-lock time. Even within that 4% perimeter, some will be double-weave-able while others will not. Jump, The Forbidden Chakra, and a couple others take an extra 50% as long as others. Each additional mudra handsign seems to take me about 50% less, or roughly .5s seconds + half my ping at the time.

Alternatively, you can count each skill as being ~.75s in animation-lock time, with at least half of your ping added per step. So with 100 ms ping, that'll be .80s per step, meaning you could only reliably double-weave with at least a 2.4s GCD.


:: To be entirely clear, I have not tested this extensively, nor do I intend to. These ballpark figures are however accurate for the varying GCD speeds and ping range I usually play with (anywhere from 1.95 to 2.47 GCDs and 90 to 240 ping). inb4 berated for imprecision.

Absolutely impossible for me. I always end up delaying my next full move when I try, which makes a few jobs very frustrating to play on my ping. Fortunately my favourite jobs are fine.

In order to double weave, know ur oGCDs. They have different animation locks and initiation times.
e.g. Internal Release, Power Surge, Geirskogul, Life Surge are all "short" type oGCDs. BfB, Legsweep, BOTD, Litany iirc are medium and Jump, Spineshatter, Dragonfire, Potion are long.
TLDR, Long must be used alone, Medium should only be paired with a short unless your GCD is 2.4 sec or longer/excellent ping, short goes with anything.

Dervy had a chart of all the oGCD delay timings buried in one of the DRG threads some time ago. Can't seem to find it now.

Also some jobs can double weave, some can't, and some are situational. Dragoons can and have to, Monk/Ninjas cannot, and Bard can only double weave with a Straighter Shot. Caster jobs situationally can, like Bard.
