does anyone know when really start paying monthly?

No date, it will be after 1.20, so whenever that patch goes live, expect to be paying monthly a bit after that.

We'll probably hear this week or next an estimation on the release date. That's my guess anyway.

Well if 1.20 comes mid-dec, I'd say expect billing 1st week of January. I doubt that SE will start billing during the Christmas period, during their office part closure. If anything goes wrong etc, they need people there.

And starting it before wouldn't give enough time to players to enjoy 1.20.

if we get billed at the start of jan, this is going to make me have to make a hard choice, i'm not paying for an MMO if i won't be going on it at all, and FF13-2 is due out, don't get me wrong i don't mind paying for the game and i'm not in the "its not finished" camp, but i to think billing is poorly timed. and i'll see you all after i have i finished 13-2 :D

From what I've read, all automatic billing will be disable and you'll have to manual go into the Square Enix Account Management System and turn it back on.

This is correct. You only have to do anything if you want to pay up.
