Season 3 ends in March
Wow, that is 4 months away.
Season 2 is only 3 months, looks like Season 3 is going to end up being 5 months long. With rumors of probably Season 4 to not happen until after Stormblood launch and possible not right away until mid launch that is a hell of a long wait.
Idk why SE couldn't just split up Season 3 to 2 1/2 months and squeeze in Season 4 for the remaining months until Stormblood.
-
Season 4 is probably 3.55 - 4.05, no reason why they would cancel it.
-
Im not worry they will cancel season 4, but if SE is on schedule with their releases, we are looking at season 4 to begin mid march til august. Thats 5 months for season 3 and season 4. They can easily squeeze in 3 season of the feast and offer triple the same rewards rather then double rewards and each season dragging out to long dull time.
-
Sooo ... with a 5 month long season, why in the world did they start season 3 without doing a Pre-Season first? Unless their aim was to completely stagnate the 3.5 content before the next expansion (marketing at it's finest /sarcasm), I can't imagine why they would waste a perfectly good opportunity like this. Trying to make sense of the way SE does things can be truly dizzying...

Season 4 gonna be dead on arrival anyway with it being around the expansion if I'm not mistaken plus the elimination of chat in Feast. Hard enough to get people to follow directions as is its gonna be almost unplayable using only auto translate.

It pains me to believe SE hasn't learn anything from patch 2.5 / 2.55 where it drag on and on without much content to do. Players stop playing after completing the content that was available and just waited until the new expansion.
-
You don't really need to play only one game all your life. Even Yoshida said it's OK to take breaks between patches. It lowers burnout, and no MMO ever can provide enough content to be played for months non-stop, so there's nothing they can do about it given their limited resources which they now use for expansion development.
I don't really think many players will PvP in 4.0 anyway, too much new stuff to do like doing story and leveling to 70, so active season will be like 2-3 months only.
-
True, but SE can add incentives to continue to play, add a new mount to frontline, add new rewards to the gold saucer which has barely been touch since they introduce it in 2.4. And like I mention before give us 3 season of 3 months long instead of just 2 season of 5 months long. Right now SE is literally trying to drag the little content they will add out as long as they can get away with it.
-
They can't do everything with such a small team (don't forget that besides expansion they are working on new dungeons and raids every 3-4 months), and instead of updating old stuff they prefer to invest resources into new experemental content which can be hit or miss, The Diadem and Verminion are failures, but Aquapolis was popular for a while and Deep Dungeon and Wonder Tails are big hits.
I'm more not happy with them not giving a new Frontline map in 3.5, so we'll have only 1 active (and the worst because it's PvE oreiented) for about a year. If they don't have resources for new areas, they could just reused the same map and added new PvP objectives, maybe buff/LB boxes timed spawn insead of ice crystals.

There are resources in the game they can reuse, they are reusing the hell hound as season 3 reward, the tiger would be a nice new mount to add as well, just add that to frontline and players would queue like crazy right now.
