Harassment Reporting and the Privacy Policy

Yesterday I was in a Soul of the Creator where a WAR used the vote to kick system to remove the new SMN that I was helping through the fight. After the SMN was kicked they told the party that it was a 'sign of the bad' and now the 'party was better'. I blatantly saw this as an abuse of the vote to kick system and harassment of a fellow player, so what do I do I try and initiate a vote dismiss of the WAR for harassment. The WAR then tells the party 'don't bother initiating im protected'. At this point I just leave and take the 30 minute hit then fill out a harassment report. Well I get a GM response that since I wasn't a direct party involved my report basically meant nothing because it was against the privacy policy. the GM did not say they were going to look into the this. I was thanked for my concern of submitting a ticket on a players behalf but was told I should tell the player to send there own report. (cont)

Now I find this to be completely messed up that the policy is to not look into reports unless its from a direct party. I get that GMs don't want people to abuse the reporting system. But I find it highly messed up that the GMs are willing basically to turn a blind eye to what can equal cyber bullying of new players. After getting the GM reply I sent another reply of 'that's a messed up policy' to where I was then instructed to give feedback on the forums. So here I am giving feedback on a policy that doesn't make any sense. So going into details its if you see someone getting picked on or harassed in game your voice means nothing to SE is how I see, this is very sad and very disheartening to get this kind of response. I'm not really sure anything will ever be done but you know what I was invited to give feedback, so I'm giving it and its making me feel a whole lot better.

I had the same issue. My in game sister is very young mentally and a person twice her age was following her around. I just started working a new job so i wasnt around but every time i saw her she said she wasnt comfterble. She struggles to tell people how she feels sometimes.i had to stay home one day due to need a matience man for my flat. We were planning on running whipe city. Just went to see the matiance man off when i return to chaos. I hadnt noticed the guy there in our garden before i left so i didnt realise they were harrasing her till she had snapped. Several people where upset. I told the person to leave and the vibe i got off them was extremely creepy. So i tried to report them...and i got the same responce...i bit throw a bit more of a fuss but i doubt anything happened. So we did the simpleblack list.

Fast foreward they have been publically humilating her in game. Another member tried to report same issue...

Surely theres a point final should listen?

They can't accept reports that are for other people, simply due to the fact that, said other person might not be offended. While I understand your plight to report for people who may not know better, but this is when you should urge your friends to report these players, or help walk them through reporting the people that are doing wrong.

As I stated, the SMN was removed before any thing was said about them, so they wouldn't be offend yeah sure. Now everyone else who sees this and basically is going to just let it happen because there voice will mean nothing even if we see miss use of the games system by another player, since they There are a lot of things wrong as I see it. First the WAR is miss using the vote dismiss system for their convenience this is not how the system is meant to be used. Secondly this is like the only company I know of that has this kind of response to reporting harassment, if for example your playing WoW or League or SWTOR a CSR will at least look into the incident. Thirdly, when I wrote my ticket the GM didn't say anything about how witnessed a miss use of the vote dismissal system. Whats the point of warning people to not abuse the system if you're not going to enforce it?

With what you're saying, they could have reported the people who removed them for vote kick abuse. Again since you weren't on the recieving end, you can't report for them if they don't do it to you. I'm not trying to enforce the law, but simply, help people and help you're friend. If they are a target of abuse of anykind, have them make up a report. It takes a few minutes, but they will look into it, and usually do something. I know you guys are doing the right thing, but it is how it is. Get the people involved to report bad behavior!!

I would like to pivot if I may, as of this moment this is how it is. I while I might be a vocal minority wish or hope for some kind of change to be considered. Saying it is how it is right now is fine but while difficult the simple solution is to change the policy. Why can't report bad behavior if we see? Why must our reports while being a witness to the event just be considered irrelevant, I just want my voice to be heard. Right now as I see the reporting system in final fantasy could use some amending, you only have two options, harassment and cheating. Why can't we as a community ask for another option to allow us to report player misconduct for a GM to see or taken into account. The value of a witness in a report can help legitimize the claim that is being made. Right now as it stands just based off my interaction with the GM team or their CSR, I really do not look forward to the experience. I regret having to type out any report, any bug fix or anything of any nature, its really discouraging it makes me just not want to bother using the system at all. Maybe this was the straw that broke my back... But if I feel this way there will be others. We're just forced to sit idly by and do nothing because it is how it is until we voice that we want a change. I mean I honestly just want a little more from the GM teams then wall of text auto responses that just seem to be printed out with no regards to the person reading them. I feel like I'm sliding off into a tangent now but if GM gets such a ticket from any player they should see that as a chance to make that persons day a little better with just something other then a slamming door in the face saying "Not your problem, nothing I can do." I know this might put more work on sorting through tickets but at the end of the day it seems odd that we have the upper management of final fantasy thank us for our support and appreciation of the game yet the people have to interact with the most just seem like they won't bother to give us the time of day. So that's all I just want better interaction with the CSRs and GMs that handle our tickets, and a wish for a policy change or the implementation of another report feature that allows us to just solely report people for miss using the vote dismissal system.
