Graphics settings

Hi,

I have had this issue ever since I got a new laptop. I quit FFXIV around the time I got it as well. I know it can take high (at least) graphics, but the resolutions and UI scaling settings are really pissing me off. I just reinstalled the game and thought a fresh start would be great to modify the settings just a bit - but nope. By standard it set the graphics to High (Laptop). I since changed to Borderless Window mode, put graphics down to Standard (Laptop); which helped to raise my fps from around 10 to 30. But my UI rescaling (trying to make it look ok and readable while) made the chat really tiny. I would love to go back to how things were before I messed with ANY setting at all but he 'Default' button does nothing. Never had these issues in other games... So I guess my questions are:

1) Why is my chat tiny no matter what I do? And not even increasing font helps
2) Is it borderless windowed mode causing problems with both UI scaling and FPS? Should I switch to fullscreen?
3) Why is my default button not working? I press it and nothing happens. I swear there is barely any difference between high (laptop) and standard (laptop) graphics.
4) Could there be a file with all the settings that I could just delete? I really don't feel like restarting everything
