Help fellow Eorzean big fishers! As of right now, all big fish have been found and caught, save one - The Bobgoblin Bass.

I have now caught every other fish, but even after quite a bit of time at Middle Thaliak have come up empty on this one. A quick glance at ff14angler.com shows no one else has managed to catch this fish, not even in the comments.

I suspect it is likely the same general method as catching a Goblin Bass (12am-6am, Fish Eyes, Fog/Overcast, straight catch with Brute leech or mooch from Sweetfish). I am currently working under the assumption it is probably not a straight catch, and is only mooched from Sweetfish. I also wouldn't be surprised if it was either Fog only or Overcast only, or one of those combination weathers like Clear>Fog.

So c'mon, show SE that big fishing isn't dead and get this fish caught! Do it in memory of Quickthinx Allthoughts, who went to his grave never being able to land this fish.

There are comments that someone has caught it, but they are in Japanese.

Rain or Shower --> Rain or Shower (can't say for sure which is accurate) betwen 0 -6 or 0 -8:00.

I've been looking for back to back rain or showers for two days now and have not seen it yet though.

Yeah from those new comments it seems it is a rain/shower>rain/shower combo, but I have not seen that combo since the comments went up XD.

I been trying in just rain/showers by itself and have mooched sweetfish off themselves upwards of eight times in succession with no sign of Bob, so it most likely is a double rain/shower. Might not be just 0-6am like the Goblin Bass since it doesn't follow many of the other Goblin Bass tendencies, so I will be trying in double rain/showers the first time I see it happen, regardless of time.

It would be a whole world of fun if they meant you had to catch the sweetfish while it was raining from 0-6 then use that to mooch the bass from 6-12 while it was showering ;)

It could be, along all the other requirements considering the description of Goblin Bass, a mooch off of a Goblin Bass. The same way Mahar is a big fish and needed to mooch Shonisaurus.

After the maintenance, there was Rain --> Rain, with the second Rain at 0:00 - 8:00.

I caught many many HQ sweetfish and mooched a LOT and only got more sweetfish. No luck.

Fisheyes does NOT trigger at this time, so it is not needed. (According to the comments, it is not needed also)
Perhaps a Showers is necessary or perhaps I had bad luck.

The Bob is dead, long live the Bob. After several missed windows, I finally caught it! Took an entire month of trying to catch the window, and then 15 mooched sweetfish and 1 missed bite to finally reel it in on the last possible attempt I would have had before time ran out.

I can confirm that Rain>Rain, Showers>Showers, and Showers>Rain do NOT work, and that the actual weather pattern of Rain>Showers at 12am-8am only has about a 1% chance per eorzean day of happening, which equates to what my own experience confirms is about a 1 window per real time week to catch this fish, if you're lucky enough to be online at the exact moment and aware of it happening, of course.

Roughly 1 chance per earthly week to catch sounds like it could be the worst fish in the game. I thought Heavensward fishing was relatively simple until the patch 3.4 fish. Thanks for the info though; I'm sure I'll keep missing these rare windows due to not bothering to check the weather often enough lol. I hope the next big fishing achievement they add has a nice reward attached, like how they gave out ironworks rod in the past and that was the best thing for a while before lucis rod was added. Just another title would suffice though to increase motivation to get serious about angling again.
