Shorter elezen necks

With the coming of 4.0 and I assume big changes graphically-wise with the dropping of ps3 support, is there anyway elezens can get shorter necks and somewhat wider heads? The only thing stopping me from playing them is their awkward giraffe heads (no offense to people who play as elezens). Unless the reason they're shaped like this is because of "muh uniqueness" then rip.

They've been dhalmel for nearly 15 years. Doubt it's going to change now.

Elezen basically have human sized heads with larger than human bodies that are still proportioned the same as human bodies. This results in the feeling that they have "shrunken heads." On male Elezens, this generally looks passable, since the typical hyper-masculine superhero proportions have larger bodies in proportion to their normal-sized heads. On females, however, it just looks unnatural in a bad way.

My thought on this is that what Elezen need is actually narrower bodies, not wider heads. Widening the head and shortening the neck as he OP suggested would get them pretty close to looking like big humans with elf ears. Narrowing their bodies instead would give them a tall, lanky look, which would keep them in being unique.

Another thought for this is that in the character creator should change just the height for the body, not the size of the head or the width of the body. This could make Elezen vary from unnaturally tall and lanky down to something relatively close to human on the bottom of the scale.


In general, though, Elezen aren't terribly popular, and the reason is their proportioning makes females especially look very unnatural. Revamping Elezen would increase their popularity and hence the diversity without having to make a whole new race.

And, perhaps, a slider to adjust their baby hands.

Or maybe it's just their arm length that makes their hands look so small.

In FFXI my first guy was an Elvaan. His neck though... After a few hours of being annoyed by his neck I deleted him and made a Hume instead. In FFXIV 1.0 my first creation was an Elezen, a recreation of my original original FFXI guy. Made him a Hume shortly after starting the game (and promptly quitting after a short time because computer couldn't run the game for an hour without overheating and shutting itself down despite lowest settings).
