The lovely European SE store charges 31€ to send the book to Spain, 40€ to the Czech Republic and so on.
This thing can be ordered from japan, and have it delivered faster for less than half that price.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time that European players have been screwed over by shipping costs. There was also no explanation given as to why the Heavensward Collector's Edition cost more for UK players than in many places within Europe either. Then on top of that there's the problematic handling of the campaign for the maid/butler attire...which still hasn't been addressed despite numerous players expressing their concern in a thread.
And here I was complaining to my wife that the Lore Book isn't up for sale (as of 10 minutes ago at least) on the NA store...at least shipping when it is will be reasonable.
That seriously sucks for y'all.
24€ for germans... i wanted the book, but not if the shipping costs nearly as much as the book...

I justified the cost last month when I got both artbooks and the postmoogle plush, but for just one item? No.
I'll have a friend from UK get it for me and send it via mail. It will be much cheaper to pay for 2 shippings than this extortion.
What would be nice is not being forced into viewing whatever site SE deems appropriate - I can't even order it because I'm in Japan (but want the English version). I have a UK address I want it sent to, but I can't access the UK store, only the EU one. Hope I can get my family to order it for me before it sells out :/
Not to mention that they do not even ship in all EU member countries. The shop is just rediculous. The costs are unjustified and insane and the digital shop itself has many tehcnical issues with many debit/credit cards. It was a hell when I tried to buy Heavensward digitally because the store decided to block my card without a reason. Problem was resolved but I had to pass through that terribly made customer support website. SE's EU store need a huge improvement and overhaul. Customer support console is also really terrible. The costs for thr merchandise need to be way way lower. SE do us a favour and fix your digital store.
I'm not even finding this on the NA store, so that's cool. I feel like the SE store is just one of the worst stores I've ever tried to shop from, lol. I had to make a new account since mine was apparently too old, and now can't even put in shipping or billing information. It's a mess.
Edit: Also, I can't even put my full street address in the designated bar, so not sure how I'm going to figure this out.
Honestly, you guys are focusing on the wrong people. SE doesn't set the shipping/handling cost, that's done by the provider who send the mail to it's destination AKA companies like UPS/Fedex or even US Postal Service.
SE doesn't get to decide the pricing of the product when they ship it, they have to follow the rules by the provider they are able to choose from and the cost is of course added to the overall product.

That's from the FAQ, if you know which handler they use for your product then perhaps you could do research and find a cheaper provider. Again this isn't an issue of SE, it's an issue of the cost of the service being used to mail the product to you.
As someone who reguraly ships boxes from us to uk the shipping companies have gotten quiet bad for cost. I've increased from 30 bucks for 4 pounds in weight to almost 75 in 3 years... but with that said.. Eu SE should have an EU warehouse... so unless this book weighs 4 pounds and is coming from japan or USA the cost is the being raised by "someone" far too much
Yes I believe shipping companies do charge alot but.. that being said SE is a business and would have a business account thus getting to save more on shipping with companies based on the contracts that they have with shipping companies. There is actually such a thing. And it's good that these customers are questioning the cost of the shipping. There is nothing stopping any company from saying "oh shipping that cost um... 19.99 (figure made up)" We have all seen those TV infomercials. So I believe its likely it's a bit of both here.
I'm so sorry for the Eu peoples. Golly and you know StormBlood CE is coming too.. i wonder how much of a heartbreak that will be for the uk/eu
