So what skills do you think won't make the cut as useful for the rework in 4.0? For me its tri bind for summoner.

As far as MCH, they could combine Dismantle/Rend Mind to save a spot, remove/combine Leg/Foot Graze.
Speaking purely PvE of course. Binds and slows are always useful in PvP. Even then, couple fights where slows have been useful in PVE.
I'm hoping Miasma II goes; I think probably Surecast. Perhaps Feint, Featherfoot.
Certainly some stances (Fists of Fire, Wasp Venom etc) can be removed and made the "default" stance and just have the others include a damage down/whatever debuff when activated.
I'm just hoping they'll take a look at how they accomplish the same variety of effects with fewer buttons, rather than solely considering the individual abilities. For many of the jobs that may be the way to go, but in other cases you could layer that control instead, or simply reduce unnecessary button counts by tying alternate-stanced abilities into the same slot (Fell Cleave - Inner Beast, Defiance/Deliverance as a toggle). For instance, if stealth mechanics were revised somewhat for Ninja, you could potentially take out Sneak Attack and Trick Attack and instead give every weaponskill a sizable 'from stealth' bonus that would be situationally and/or rotationally viable against each other. Dragoon's various Jumps and Dives could be handled in a similar manner, allowing more options despite using fewer buttons.
How about Cross Class?
Are they going to remove these skills from the class they came from and make it so you automatically get access to the skills in the pool at certain levels? That makes more room for innate skills within each job, but still keeps the skills themselves available from cross class pool.
Are they going to modify/replace/merge the skills themselves? Will NIN, AST, DRK, and MCN all be contributing skills to the pool now?
Do we get more than 5 now? Like 7 maybe since we'd probably be level 70? Will they expand the trait space too?
They said role-based, but what about some skills that are used across roles....
PLD's can take CNJ skills thematically.... Stoneskin/Cure/Protect/Raise although not make much use of them.
While Healers and Casters both take Swiftcast as essential, and some of the utility/defensive stuff like Virus and Eye for an Eye are taken by Casters because they can't take anything else worthwhile.
All the melee/physical jobs would want the DPS buff skills of course, and Second Wind & Invigorate. And Casters would want all the DPS buffs, and to the still keep the option to fill in from Caster/Healer utility like Virus and Swiftcast.
So like are the roles going to be: Tank/DPS/Healer? or is there additionally going to be DoM/DoW or maybe Ranged/Melee/Caster? And everybody picks from 2 sets?
Do RDM traits let it pick more skills or from more roles than normal? Or is it already going have enough balance problems with its innate skill diversity making it stretch outside of its main role too much?
Oh damn, I hadn't thought about this. If the move to role skills instead of cross-class means PLD lose Stoneskin I won't be happy. I use Stoneskin fairly regularly, Protect also sees some minor use sometimes, casting it just after someone is rezzed.
Hopefully it'll be something like 3 skills from you main classes role and 2 from your sub-classes role, hopefully they'll take the opportunity to free up the system a bit. Like Gladiators no longer have provoke at all, it's just a tank role skill unlocked at a certain level. Lets them cut down on class skills and free up some room for job skills.
Some choice to the system, or variety based on content, that would be nice. i.e. remove Provoke for duties you know don't need it and equip something else.
As for Ninja, they could merge Sneak/Trick Attack, and add differents damages bonus depending on front/back/flank (as it is now).
Also Merge the debuff from Dancing Edge Into Armor Crush.
Disable the 20% physical damage boost from "Kiss of the ' " and add it as a passive trait.
And i hope we'll get more Passive Trait and skills upgrade for 4.0.
Um, with the new system, they could make it so that the abilities activated in a specific stance are visible only within that stance, so RDM could have like a ton of skills but we may only get to see about sixteen to thirty-two skills at once. And, it could have OGCDs stances that would last about seven minutes or less to compensate for losing a tank (Debuff, enfeeblement) or a healer (fast-spamming) in dungeons and stuff. IDK.
I wonder if songs will be greyed when using WM now....
