Bring Back Bazaar's

I'm creating this thread in hopes SE will bring back the Bazaar function they had in FFXI and from what I'm told they had in 1.0.

This allows the player to keep goods they went to sell in their inventory that other players can view when the function is turned on simply by examining them.

I might be in the minority of wanting this feature but I prefer it to listing items on a Auction House or Market Board. I can list w/e price I want w/o having to spend my time at the summoning bell relisting every hour or receiving angry tells from competitors (this has only happened a few times and yes I know I can report but it's still an inconvenience)

If its a tax issue SE can implement city taxes like they did in FFXI. If its possibly to prevent RMT in instances couldn't they just disable it in dungeons like they do trading?

anyone else have thoughts on this or would like to see it come back?

I apologize if there is already an existing thread but I didn't want to necro bump it :)

The thing is though, that's what retainers already are - the Market Board is just a streamlined list of retainer bazaars all organized in the one place. It's not an Auction House. The reason SE did it like this is to avoid the problems FFXI had with bazaars and players keeping their characters logged in without being played just to sell things.

Retainers were the answer - a player owned character that specifically was there to handle a bazaar, however in 1.0 they did not work as well as they should as there was no way to search all retainer bazaars in the one place (they physically appeared grouped in a special zone called the Market Ward in 1.0), so all ARR has done is forgone the Market Ward and streamlined retainer bazaars in an easy to access list in the form of the Market Board.

So really, I don't think you will see a return to FFXI style bazaars for this reason.

They can't "bring back" something we never had.

The closest thing is how retainers worked in 1.x, but as Enkidoh explained that system is somewhat still in place, with the marketboard as an index.

I actually loved Rolanberry Mall in XI. I'm not sure why? It kinda felt like a bargain every time I found something, and just browsing was fun too. Garage sales are too much love for me. I hate my life. Not opposed to this suggestion at all.

No. 1.0 had both retainers and a personal bazaar.

I'd like to have an auction house as well as the marketboard. Just because they're fun and could get some good deals.

Auction House! Oh the stories. I loved bidding one digit less for an expensive item and buying it. Scorpion Harness? Selling for 5,000,000? I bid 500,000 and won. Inflation happened a week after. I sold it for 25m. The inflation died and it all went back to normal, 5m Scorpion Harnesses....and I had a nice 25m.

Thanks for the reply Enkidoh, I wasn't sure how they worked in 1.0 since I didn't start until 2.0 ARR. Even though the MB is not an AH the only real difference is the absence of blind bidding. I also see your point of the players staying logged in but I think we already see that now and will no matter what. Do you think adding this could and/or will make it worse?

I loved this too, it was a lot of fun going through the popular places like Rolanberry Field, Ra'lude Gardens etc. and searching for deals or rare items.
