Patch seems rather... small

Please hear me out before you start firing at me.

The reason I say this is because I have been playing for less than 4 hours, and I have already cleared the entirety of the new main story, the Scholasticate, finishing Hildibrand, beat Sophia and about to unlock Alexander - The Creator.

And all of this while slowly reading all text, not dashing and teleporting like a madman, watching all cut-scenes, taking breaks, having my meals, etc. It just seems somewhat disheartening on the general size of actual content that is not repeatable.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed every moment of it but even with my slow methods I am almost done with it and then its back to the grind or Palace of the Dead, roulettes and beast tribe quests.

In 5 weeks we get more, but from what I hear its only relic and Palace of the Dead floors and that is just adding to the grind. It will take my attention for a bit, but for the first time ever, I considered suspending my subscription until there is more to be done.

What do you all thing, do you see what I see? Discussion time!

Doesn't seem any smaller than most of the 2.X patches really. Most of those I completely finished in 2 hours.

I don't know, this one just seemed like if you complete it you back to the grind the same way it was before patch ever existed, it added nothing new to refresh the perspective of the grind.

Don't worry, you can send your platoons out on missions for the next 4 months. Isn't that fun??? Right??? Guys, where are you going?!?!? Come back and play the game with me!!!

Its been the opposite in my FC, most people have just barely finished the story and are starting to do other things

The patch is small indeed and this formula will be the way of the game for now it seems. If you do not raid savage you will be done in one day playing casualy no matter what the frothing aplogists may scream. On non raid patches this formula is even worse imo so right now this the most content the game usualy has per patch as sad as that may sound.

Anywho your best course of action, acording to the games director naoki yoshida, would be to unsub and come back in 3.5 to 4 months...

That's been every patch but 2.55 and 3.2 for me. XD I don't mind though, I do prefer grindy games overall.

Its the same tired formula that they have stuck with since 2.0 released. ~8-10 new MSQ, couple side quests, a new trial, 2 new dungeons, a new currency to take over as the top currency, and then either a new 24 man raid or a new 8 man raid. In ~3 months we do the same thing again with minor deviations. The core gameplay never changes. Grind the same dungeons over and over to get the newest currency to buy the same gear that everyone else is buying to run raids to acquire another currency to buy an upgraded set of gear. The core gameplay is stale, the content formula is tired, and the itemization and loot structure is unexciting. Its time to make some changes. In a few days ill be back to having to make myself log in, and Im at the point where I just dont let games do that to me anymore, so I just dont log in.

I already handle the airship missions of my FC so this is not a good thing either. The purpose of the Platoons baffles me. You just fiddle with it for a few minutes then do other things. Its just more ventures.

I think people who have played other MMOs before could feel this coming and fled. Mid-population servers like mine saw a significant decline in population just before this patch too.

I'm disappointed with the new dungeons.
Not because they're boring or anything - the boss and fight mechancis are all top notch, and the environments are all gorgeous but .....

... they're too easy.
I don't raid, I don't have raider gear - I went into 3.4 at i239 with relic in hand, expecting to have to work really hard to complete the new dungeons.
I was shocked how easy it went.
Xelphatol - all four of us firsttimers, we finished in under 20 minutes with no deaths and hiccups anywhere along the way.
Gubal Hard - 3 of us new, same completion time with only the second boss being a speedbump in figuring it out.

Call me crazy, and I know dungeons aren't supposed to be very tough but ... if I can get those kind of effectively speedruns in previous patch gear, on DF, in a major gear update patch there -has- to be something screwy with the difficulty.
