No voiceovers playing
In a month I have yet to hear a single voice from a npc conversation or cutscene. Some sound in cutscenes but no voices. Changing settings from client to English for language makes no difference. Changing speaker settings on the PC from 5.1 to stereo made no difference. Checking the game configuration file shows cutscene voices as 1 not 0 so I assume this means on. A character has gotten nearly to the end of the msq and all the way to the end of the white mage class quests so I have reached cutscenes with voice acting.
I've checked earlier threads but they tend to end with comments about whether the voice acting is good or not but no helpful answers other than to check the things I mentioned. Anyone have a suggestion for some setting I may have overlooked or changed by error? I have no problems with sound, music etc. other than never hearing the voiceacting.
Thanks.

Most of the cutscenes/interactions don't actually have voices and it's only the main story quests and even then it's only the really big ones. Just wondering if possibly you've simply not actually experienced any that actually have voices?

Thanks for the reply but I don't think that is the issue.

There are plenty of voices cutscenes when you progress through main story. Some important sidequests and era quests will also have voicing. How far are you on the story?

Try replaying some old voiced scenes to check they are still working.

I have gotten from a level 1 brand new character until 9 quests from the end of the mainline story. The quest where you participate in a mass melee that leads into a trial. Well after the end of the initial Heavensward story.
I have never, ever, not once heard NPC conversation in any conversation with any NPC. I have never ever not once heard conversation in any cutscene.
I thought I was clear on that in the original post, and then I repeated it a second time. I'm not sure what more I can say.

Well it could help if you posted your character level, at least the highest one, since your profile only tends to tell us that you simply haven't reached far in the story. As a level 25 conjurer, playing one month and talking about the msq we can only assume that you are talking about the msq that leads you out of Gridania. New people will also say "I've reached the end of whm questline" when they mean "I've reached the level 30 conjurer quest and no other quest is showing for me", class and jobs are a confusing term for some new players. I'm not trying to be patronising. It's just a misunderstanding due to lack of information.
So, assuming you have a lvl60 character and followed msq until patch 3.2 or 3.3 (the mention of the melee fight was a big hint), and reading your last reply, no, you weren't clear at all.
I suggest you fill a bug report with full data on your PC specs, directX and the likes. Even if SE might not accept it as a game bug, people can help you better if you include all the information.

I dont think you hear the voice acting if you have BGM turned off.
-
Yes you do. I have BGM off and hear voice acting perfectly.

ps4 thing maybe, I often have it turned off, had to go in and tweak settings to hear the voices for the HW patch. was a while ago though, maybe it was a different setting.
