Which version to choose?
Hi everyone! I just started playing the free trial version of FFXIV online yesterday. I like the game and I would like to buy the full version. My question is this: Can I buy the latest version and it will have all the previous content, or do I have to buy each release to get all the game content?

At the current time, you will need to purchase both the "original" (2.0) FFXIV and Heavensward in order to access all content.
That said, you only need FFXIV: A Realm Reborn to level to 50, and can purchase Heavensward as you near level 50 so that you are able to gain experience towards level 60 as you go through the large number of ARR story quests between the end of the 2.0 story and the start of the 3.0 story.

Thank you! I've been waiting for a reply with credit card in hand. 8-))

And there's also a bundle with both in one. Depending on exactly where and when you buy them, it's usually the same price either way.

I am clearly far too late to answer here, but i will emphasize one point. Im guessing your question was brought on by the new patch. These content updates have always been free, so starting in about a day all the players currently able to will be finding new dungeons to explore, trials to overcome, and raids to conquer that werent available yesterday(along with a host of other new options and features). These types of content update patches seem to happen every few months. The devs are also planning/working on the next expansion for the game. Expansions arent free, are optional, and include a lot more content all at once rather then doled out a little at a time. So far they havent released many(any?) concrete details on the next expansion, and most of the people i talk to are guessing we wont see it until probly next summer.
