Healer in 4v4?
Trying to understand this role is a downright headache, but I do want to play it... Because Idk.
I guess tailor comments to being a WHM on Aether.
(And yes, I am aware how skills such as Attunement, Sacred Prism, and Divine Breath work, and already have macros made that scream "Need Manasong / Report!" or "Slept, Need Purify!"

If you're just starting off, just like anything else, it is important to know all your tools under your belt, then comes how you can utilize them.
As a fellow WHM myself, I can say we rely a lot on maintaining our HoTs on the team (medica 2, regen, and aoes like asylum, sacred prism) as much as possible. I found that:
-Asylum, is great when dealing with minor pressure on you such as a tank, and just throwing a regen with maybe a precasted medica2 can sustain you sufficiently while you heal another member of your team (of course the skill level of the player on you can factor in on how you would handle the situation).
-Sacred Prism is probably by far my favorite thing about being whm in pvp, more often than not I will throw prism down in the general area where big burst damage is taking place (usually the beginning of the match), and then I use it pretty much on cooldown, throwing it down if I'm being targeted or again on the party (if possible!).
-
-Divine Seal your medica 2s (it is 30 sec duration) meaning you can Divine Seal every other medica 2, which is really good! I personally like to swiftcast a divine seal medica 2, then I would hardcast the offcast medica 2
-Regen, regen, REGEN! Of course dont go crazy with the regens, it can eat away your mana if youre not careful. Generally tanks wont be taking too much damage, unless they 5+ stack on you, so just a regen on them is fine. For the dps, knowing who's
being targeted and not can mean the difference maintaining party vitality. For example If you see that your melee is being focused and your ranged is doing fine, just throw your ranged a regen and get back to healing the melee (not every situation will be like this)

For the majority of the fight, you're basically a heal turret. You have many defensive spells such as Fluid Aura, Repose, Blizz2, Stone2, Virus, aether burst, focals.
-Fluid Aura & Repose can go hand-in-hand, it can be used offensively on the opposing healer or defensively to get the pesky dps/tank off you. A great cc combo would be to Fluid Aura and Repose your target, it's really disruptive on the opposing healer if used strategically, so knowing when a good time to use it can be almost game changing. Don't go reposing targets if your dps are 50% hp!
Strategies?: throw asylum/prism down near some sort of wall, regen self, make use of the wall, bind your targets (blizz2) on one side, run to the other side and heal yourself. Or just straight up run, trying to LoS as much as possible. Use surecast & equanimity!
The rest comes with experience, and learning from it. I probably missed a lot but that's as much as I can think of at the moment!
Good luck, I hope I helped in some way :)
