Macros not working and it isn't the quotations

So, healing without macros is a real chore. So I make some. Namely I create, by hand, typing them out.
/macroicon cure
/action "cure" <t> /action "cure" <tt>
I get into a Guildhest, and it doesn't work. Nor do my similar DPS macros (stone and aero also typed out by hand).
I windle it down, trying to figure out what is wrong, first by removing the last line. Eventually all I have is
/macroicon stone
/action "stone"
This still doesn't work. I then try casting via the chat window. I type /action "stone" <t> and hit enter. That works, as does /action stone, /action "stone", /action stone <t>. I then went through a similar process with /action "cure" <me> with the same result. I've also tried executing the macros directly, without assigning them to a hot bar.

edit: I did try capitalizing the first letter of Cure. So now it's /action "Cure" <me> which also doesn't work.

solution: I had an extra line bettwen /macroicon and /action. so instead of

all of those work for me. something else is wrong

Just a small reminder, using macros isn't really recommended for any battle class, since using them makes you unable to queue your abilities, so you will use your abilities a bit slower with macros than you would without them. This does not really matter if you're playing solo or doing very casual content, but the higher your level and the difficulty of content you're doing the more it will affect your performance. So if you're a player who's interested in optimising your performance, avoid macros.

That's more than a small reminder. It's a good heads up. That really sucks since I'm finding it difficult to target specific players/mobs where there are a lot of mobs on the screen. As a DD it isn't all that bad, but as a healer, and I presume tank as well, it is.

Macro are only relevant for support skill
Like virus, disable or EfaE

For healing skill
It's absolutly a no no
Choose your target with the team list if necessary donc don't macro cure
As taika said it slow them (game reading macro then executing it instead of skill use)

I think you have the abilities on the same line if I am to read your examples literally? I don't think macros work that way.

That's how it should look on your macro. In regards to the ability queue, that's just totally devastating on straight battle classes like MNK, BRD, etc.

On a healer, as long as you are a proactive healer that macro above is a godsend if you use a mouse. The <mo> command allows you to heal whoever you have your cursor over on the party list or actual player, therefore there's no need to click the player you want to heal anymore! Just hover over and heal away.

For your battle actions like stone you may want to stray away from macros to make use of the queue but with the <mo> function you can stay targeted on the boss the entire fight and leave your mouse cursor over the tank for a quick heal.

As healer, you're usually best off selecting members from the party list (assuming it's party members you want to heal). On controller, you can cycle through the party list with up/down arrow buttons. On keyboard it's done with the first 8 function keys (or you can configure something in the keybinds options if you prefer the up/down cycling like controllers use).

If you need to heal non-party members (like at a large FATE, or when there are NPCs in a duty), that party list selection obviously won't work. Your best bet for that is to set up different target filters. (I only know how to do this for controller, though I'm pretty sure it can be done for keyboard as well. Keyboard might need an extra setup step for assigning keybinds for it, though.) Under the "Filters" tab in the control settings of character configuration, you can specify up to four different sets of target types. (For instance, you might have one that just selects enemies, another that selects players and NPCs, and another that selects everything.) Then the controller's L1 + one of the right-hand face buttons can be used to select among those four targeting filters. For healing (when you can't just use the party list) change your filter to selecting friendly characters only, and then you can cycle through those targets only without the selection falling on mobs as well. Once everyone's healed, and you're ready to DPS, switch your targeting filter to enemies mode, and you can target the mobs.

I personally just click the name of the player I want to heal from my party list to target them.

As said in this thread, healing with macros isn't really as bad for your performance than using macros for damage, and there are many healers who heal with for example mouseover macros. I personally healed the first raid in the game with mouseover macros. But I felt like sometimes macros felt unresponsive or otherwise clunky and not being able to queue my heals annoyed me. But try both and see how you feel about it.
