So, since apartments won't have estate sharing, does this mean that the only way to really have couples' housing is to buy a house and use estate sharing? Does this also mean that there are no plans for couples' housing in the future?
My wife and I were really looking forward to being able to share an apartment together and its been a little soul crushing to find out that just isn't happening. Especially since the house stuff is so inaccessible. all the lots are taken and its expensive to boot.
It feels like a huge oversight to let us get married but no convenient way to share living quarters. Even in our guild's house its not like we can have a room that belongs to both of us.

Unfortunately at this time a house is the only true way to share a living space if you both want to be able to interact with various items (food/craft stations/lighting/furniture placement/aquariums in 3.4). Keep saving up and check the ward listing now and then for a price tag. Houses should pop up as available now and then and I'm sure you'll see a good chunk available 45 days after the auto-demolition timer starts up.

This is probably so that if there's a "split" later, SE don't have to get involved in a dispute they could never resolve as this way there is still a true owner on the house at all times. If apartment sharing were to become a thing later, it's a fair bet it'd be the same system too (one person buys, adds others to it).
