NPC dialogue and floating text FONT SIZE!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SQUARE ENIX...

Give us the option to adjust the font size of text in the NPC dialogue box, floating text and the like!!!!!

The only way I've found to adjust the size of these texts is by messing with the "High Resolution UI Settings" but it's far from perfect.

With all the other text and log settings we have options for I don't understand why you won't allow us to adjust this???

Please fix this!!!

As a visually impaired player it is quite difficult for me to read dialogue during non voice acted scenes and quest dialogue, most of the time I end up just skipping through it as my eyes get easily strained from trying to read small dialogue.

As you've said OP, I am surprised that there is not an option for this considering how much UI customisation is available.

Unfortunately though this is probably not even on the developers radar for things to adjust and with how much dialogue/lore there is in this game it would probably be quite a time consuming adjustment, especially when you have to consider different font sizes scaling in the dialogue box as well as keeping the flow of cutscenes.

Still though I could be overthinking it a little and that it can be a relatively easy adjustment, personally, I would be happy if we could just blow up the size of the dialogue box.

They'd likely have to tie it to adjusting the window size of the dialog box itself, with the font adjusting within it. (I seem to recall a thread from quite a while back discussing how the translation teams need to ensure that all four languages use the same number of dialog boxes. It doesn't sound like such a system would let them re-flow the text.) But it should definitely be made possible.

We get to adjust the size of all kinds of other UI features. We should be able to adjust the size of the dialog box the same way. Add the dialog box to the HUD Layout menu, so we can adjust its size and position the way we do most other things. And for each available size, have it use a font size appropriate to our chosen window size.

Yeah noticed it seems the size of the floating text boxes and main menu have shrunk since Stormblood update. At least on PS4.

Definitely the first thing I noticed in Stormblood is how tiny everything was on PS4. The dialog box when talking to NPCs, you can fix via the virtual mouse right click, but it resets back to tiny and unreadable when you login again. For the random floating text, you'd have to sit just a few inches close to it for you to read. It's fine if you sit as close you would as a computer, but the whole point of being on a PS4 is so you can chill on a couch a bit far away.

This was an inadvertent side effect of some changes they made to support higher resolutions for PlayStation Pro. They're working on fixing it. (I'm just hoping that their "fix" involves making it configurable rather than just setting it back to where it was before.)
