dynamisis type endgame

from what i'm reading it looks like they going for 4-8man small instanced dungeons for our endgame in ffxiv. and from a yoshi interview he said it will be more similar to other mmo dungeons>< ...i personally think this is fail, they need to bring back the huge 30-64man epic runs, the all day sea type farming and with nm's and dungeon pops. other mmo dungeons take like a month to get u'r full set, ain't no one in there right mind gonna deal with a 1% drop rate on the same dungeons if that is where they heading.

maybe they are meant to be easy drops as well but then again that ain't much for endgame neither(fact it's not endgame,other games have pvp that do this). is sad thing i don't know if i want to pay to find out if they will bring us epicness, se has become masters of begging for money and keeping us wishing/hoping and feeding on our love for ffxi and other things we want to see in the game. let us see what the days ahead bring us, but finding out in 2years of playing that all end game will be small group party will just annoy beyond repair.

Well, talk about "endgame" events when we are capped at level 50 is a little... don't know how to say it.

If SE inserts dungeons, or "endgame" content (at level. 50) for 4-8 persons, It seems perfect to me. Maybe even If they implement the alliance option, be able to do a 10-12 persons dungeon it may be good too, but I think is too early to look for Massive People Dungeon events.

Or that's what I think :p

Events like dynamis don't work for a lot of people and were never fun for a lot of people. I hope they skip it this time around and learn something from other successful MMOs.

One of the biggest factors that kept driving me away from FFXI for a long time was the number of people you needed to get anything done. I had the time when I was 16 and playing EQ back in the day but I work full time now and don't have the time so it just becomes content I'll never see.

I wouldn't particularly care if they had a 64-man event as long as you could get similar quality gear from some other event (that only required 4-8) and they didn't sink so much time into 64-man content that it cost the rest of the game.

Hopefully they will learn from other MMOs though. If you look at the history of development for EQ (as an example) they really catered end game to a select few guilds for a long period of time which alienated anyone who wasn't in those guilds to a certain degree. You look at the paying customer base and there are far more people not in these guilds than in these guilds. The ones in those guilds may play the most but they aren't really the cash cow and many of them would even un-sub between expansions because they ran out of content (while the rest of the game population was still slogging through content progression that was 1-3+ expansions old).

I was a raid leader for a long time and participant in end game player organizations for a long time in various games. Huge man events were never my favorite. They always start super late. Either it doesn't really matter what you do or any moron can ruin it for everyone. It's hard to organize that many people. There is too much drama over everything from who is partied with who ("Ewwww don't put me with HER she's a horrible cleric! I want to be in the party with Whoever instead!") to who gets what drops and loot systems ("Soandso missed a raid 2 months ago and THEY are getting the BP drop?!", "This DKP system is so unfair!", etc).

I honestly don't see a redeeming quality in large-man events like that. The only ones that I ever had fun in were the keep defense / conquering RvR combat in DAoC (so it wasn't even PvE).

guess so, maybe i was expecting a little much, or expecting all the shiny things they want to add already in game by now. also i quess this inch by inch patching is making it more easier to bitch about every little thing rather then take some leave some. or like game or leave. my biggest prob is the unknown and how long. but we not paying at moment, so i guess i can't fully expect a thing. i can also just not play till the game has everything i want and expect from it.

the way things are going though years will come b4 the type of end game i want will be implemented ..maybe?


4-8man is a bs move to copy from other games, adding them is a cool thing, we had salvage and asaults and that other 100floor dungeon. what u'r askign for is little click parties so only half of every ls gets alienated rather then a few smaller linkshells, top 4-8 players in that shell will be just buddies picking up who ever they need to fill one or 2 spots. u gotta then be the only few shouting for hours for a full pug group and that almost never happens or succeeds or u gotta wait for others, find another ls in witch u hope that dont' happen, but it will. hell just ask specific classes if they even got invited at all to them. they may be a little more work to set up but they are more epic by any means. how many times can u do a 4-8man dungeon b4 u say i'm not doing that again or don't help out ls members with there runs when they missing a few people?(ffxi missions were more like 4-8man dungeons and was great with with the story and opening of lands, and how many of u did that more then one time?) ffxi end game was those u can do for years and it still was pretty fun after 3-5years and at the very least wearing that gear made it all worthwile.

whether they want to cattier to those that want to just have things handed to them is there choice, maybe they should just collect pokemon cards or something, u'll feel just as much of a gamer that way. not to shit on the casual but ffxi wasn't casual and ffxiv shouldn't be casual, even if they cater to u, it will be in a non casual way, everything will be easy but the time it takes will take just as long as in ffxi. if u won't get sick of the game in a second that way then i dunno more power to you.?

I am guessing that in time there will be more end game content added. I don't think XI really hit its' stride with having a rich end game until a few years after NA launch. It didn't seem really good to me until there was Limbus, Salvage, et cetera all out there. They could have even made MMM end-game if they had wanted to.

What I'm hoping for is they get the game to the point they feel like they can charge for it ASAP so it's showing promise for them financially. Then take lessons learned from XI and implement some solid content for us. It should go a lot quicker for their 2nd MMO to deliver a good end game experience. They have all the lessons learned good & bad from XI. They've written the events before.

I also figure that the 1st expansion will do a lot. From what I understand Zilart was a huge addition to XI. I don't know first hand because I didn't play until NA release.

Time to time. This game needs a lot of fixing before that. They were talking about end game High level dungeon. This may be the first step.

As moatcarp said, the First expansion will do a lot, I hope. And I suppose the first expansion will be released with PS3 release, and maybe, we get a level cap upgrade too.

Yoshida-san and his team will do this one, a great game.

IMO endgame content like Dynamis, Einherjar, Sea, Sky, Limbus, Assault, Salvage and Nyzul were all great, regardless of drop rates, from my experience turn out for these events were always good, and they were for a long time, eve if it takes a few months or longer to obtain that most coveted gear you are after in the end there was always that feeling of great accomplishment, and can definitely see that happening here in XIV, make endgame too easy and we'll have nothing but a riot about not enuff content in the game...

I live for endgame PvE. However, my feelings on 4-8 man PvE are different. I love group content (or I'd be playing a single player game), but not large-scale group content. I feel that low man content is much more epic than larger scale group content. Because large scale almost always ends up being a zerg for one. But also just having the bragging rights to take out some bad-ass Boss monster low-man style is just the best. It could also be a lot more challenging, because with low-man crews there would be less room for error. There is nothing too epic imho about zerging a Boss or throwing death-weakened people at it (no matter how many people die) until you finally manage to kill it.

So I say yes to challenging low-man content. My favorite PvE content in FFXI was CoP missions (pre-nerf). And I enjoyed the PvE endgame content that came from Limbus onward the most. I absolutely hated Dynamis and Kings. OW camping wars and huge unruley zerg-a-thons are horrible concepts. I was fairly OK with Sky and Sea, but that was mostly only when we went low man. Nothing like beating Byakko with 8 people!!

Not to mention other concepts that come from large-scale content like carrying unskilled freeloaders through events, the chaos of dealing with larger groups, fairweather LS mates that get their loot and run, ninja lotters, keeping up with drop distribution, drama, inability to function due to people not showing up to a scheduled event, and of course collision mechanics, the feeling of being a faceless cog in the machine because your actions are insignificant in the chaos of a large zerg. All of these concepts can either be eliminated or greatly reduced with low-man content.

This is not to say I dont think there should be any larger scale content, but I would rather it be limited. I liked the occasional Campaign. Overall, it is my opinion Large-scale content only "looks" more epic due to numbers, but in my experience feels pretty weak for the reasons previously listed.
