Alexander and the state of Bards, Monks, Warriors and BLMs in them

Hey guys, I'm returning to FFXIV after a long hiatus, and I'm thinking of taking either a Bard, Monk, Warrior or BLM into Savage. I'm wondering now, how the mechanics of the the raids fare for these classes?

I know Bards are lowest DPS still, which doesn't bother me considering the support they bring, but I'm wondering on how all of these classes fare when it comes to popularity and how much people they are needed.

Also, how challenging are the mechanics for tanks?

Every job is viable for raid. No one's going to scoff at a person just for playing Bard.

That being said, almost no static doesn't have a WAR. While MNK BRD and BLM can typically be substituted with NIN MCH or SMN, I don't know of any group that runs PLD/DRK or doubles up.

Either way, any of those jobs would be fine for raid.


As for tank mechanics, they're relatively straightforward. There's quite a bit of tank swapping, and some movement of the boss to different parts of the arenas, but being a main tank, I feel as if I have it easiest compared to everyone else (especially healers)

The fights look like so much fun, just don't know which class to play! I want to play Warrior, but I enjoy having to do mechanics a lot, so thinking maybe Bard or MNK. Urgh. Thanks for the answers though.

Doubles are bad.

The impact on the limit bar fill rate is heavy.

I have seen it one time, as I was helping out. Regular, you get up to 4 limit bars in A6S. With just one double in the party, it filled just a little bit more than 2 bars till some moments before the finish.

I do many mechanics on warrior. I OT for my group, and I genrally do what I can to help the dps do as little as possible to help speed the fights along, of course this costs me my own dps, but really, I'm a tank firstly. anyways, what I'm trying to get at is, play what you enjoy, and don't think that tanks don't have a lot of things to do, cause you will lol.

My group runs PLD/DRK, because that is what me and the OT wanted to play. We do fine in raids (and PLD even has its advantages over WAR in some cases).
