3.2 Dragoon BiS gear build

this is a link for a dragoon gear set up i was wondering if this is what i should go for and what adjustments may or maynot be made?

Thats already extremely close to the final accepted DRG BiS @ 600 sks

about 0.5 str DPS difference but the BiS requires a complete overhaul of the set as the Midan Helm + Lore Belt are completely useless without the Relic, Midan spear and/or Yafemi/Midan coat.

Wouldn't this be better http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/VASC? It has +21 crit, -22 det, +3 sks over your set.

I think Dervy mentioned that his BiS for this patch would have 558 sks, and I'm guessing it'd be something like this http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/VASD, but I might be wrong.

Mm you're right, your one is better from a purely DPS perspective. I'll ask for an update of the official guide.
Only issue I can see is the transition from A8S is not so nice because you must meld ACC in to all the accessories, this leaves zero room for Vit melds. Whereas the one I linked is better for A8S because all the bonus Crit Materia on the accessories are interchangeable with Vit. It becomes exceptionally tight to the point of near impossibility at surviving the final Jkick with weakness.

Yes that's precisely what I thought too about that set. 4x accu melds on the right side leaves only 1x possible vit meld on the ring.

For progressing through a8s I can use lore spear and lore boots with 1x accu meld (60 accu vs 24 from midas boots with 2x accu melds), and that frees up 3x accu melds from the right side. I guess the problem would be once you get the spear and need to swap the lore boots for midas boots. But if you still absolutely need/want vit melds even with a8s spear and chest then you can give up the 2x crit melds on the weapon for 2x accu melds and replace 2x accu with 2x vit from the right side gears.

Personally I haven't seen much of a8s, and I've only entered it as drg once (up to vortexer/swindler), so I can't comment on how bad the J kicks are.

The biggest problem with the VAGN build is the Midan Helm and Midan belt are completely worthless without the Relic or Midan spear, this means you can't really ease in to it from prog gear either (which means wasting potentially 6 cuff pages and 375 Lore+Gobcoat).
The deadliest jkick is the last one, the reason it is recommended to vit meld even with full BiS is because you have to account for the possibility of you having to sac for the final water, this means you are going in to a jkick that does a conventionally mitigated 16k ish pure damage +- 2% variation with the 15% weakness.

Even with the crafted ring over the lore one (too much sks, I'm already finding time I look at my TP bar and say "where the crap are my TPs) I don't find an excessive loss of str or vit, the first compensated by the crit gained.
As of now, with missing only the chest, I've been doing fine.

This build has very low determination. Det is nice for having more consistency on stuff like pentacles on A8S without having to rely on crits. What's more worrying though is you're way over the cap on accuracy.

I always go for front accuracy, since sometimes mechanics require me to stay on front, and det as a stat is not that great right now.
You might be right, but I wouldn't sacrifice crit for it.
I've tried a det build, a crit build, and a mixed 50-50 and 70-30 build when det got changed and then after gordias, and I always did more dps with a crit build.

Front accu cap is 699, you can drop the accu iv materia on your head if you go with that build.

Honestly I don't think I'd rely on accu from the anima, since there'll be time when you use other weapons (ex primal weap early in 3.4 later, or the savage weapon when you clear it), and you'd have to change melds or other gears. Also if you have 40 accu on it now at i240, how is it going to scale later when we have i260/270 anima?

Also idk what you meant when you said that the lore ring has too much spd, since you picked the crafted ring which has even more spd on it (46 on the crafted, 36 on the lore).
