Will the 2.0 Graphics game engine support DirectX 10, 11?

Ya so we all know that 2.0 won't be here for around a year :( . What I'm curious about is will the new Graphics engine make use of DirectX 10 or even 11. The current game engine is only running DirectX 9 in case you we're unaware. Ive looked about some and not seen this discussed any.

I admit I was slightly bummed when I first got the game and saw that it was only DirectX 9. Not that the game looks bad as is. I think it looks quite good. But it could look better. Just about all of us playing now currently have a video card with at least DirectX 10 and a good deal of us have DirectX 11. I haven't looked into it but there would not be many video cards that meet the minimum requirements for FFXIV that are only DirectX 9 capable if any. For most of us if you didnt already have a good gaming PC had to get some upgrades or even a new computer to play XIV and most new graphic's cards offer DirectX 10 bare minimum.

Now I'm not saying lose the DirectX9 support. But I in fact built my current PC specifically to play FFXIV. And when I did I bought a nice video card that has DirectX 11. I just wanna know if there is any hope of seeing at least DirectX 10 support for this new Graphics engine.

This has been mentioned in a few different interviews. I don't remember the specifics but I think they mentioned wanting to get to it in the future (after 2.0 that is). Do some digging - I'm pretty sure the bluegartr interview has that exact question.

Not at launch but they will be adding the functionality for DX11 in the future if the interviews are true.

Cool. Would love to make use of DX 11. Yet another feature to be excited about for the future.

would be a waste of time for them to use DX9 and not use DX10/11 for 2.0 when there rebuilding the graphics engine right now. they'll just be doubling there work.

It's DX9 for 2.0 they working on that first then later working on releasing DX11 maybe a few month from 2.0. But ya sadly it going to be base of dx9 again maybe dx10 if we lucky.

They are probably doing DX9 at first so that way a wider range of computers can run the game without having to upgrade. Like Jynx said though, I think I saw a couple interviews mentioning DX11. Should look nice when and if it gets patched in.

Sad to see them take the DX9 route again when only the absolutely highest end DX9 cards can run the game half acceptably and any current 90 bucks card would do a better job.... Unless the new engine is so awesome that it can scale down enough to run decently on integrated video, in that case good for them.

I think that the point of the new Engine not sure about the intergrated video card it be nice but i don't think it go that far. I think a good enough intergrated card may do it tho.
