Call me nostalgic, but... FFXI gear.

I scoured the forums and conducted a few quick searches, and seemed to not pick up anything on this topic, so if this is a repeat, please forgive me. That said, how many of you folks played FFXI, or enjoyed it's aesthetic in regards to their gear design? Granted, a lot of it had certain limitations (such as no capes) because of the hardware of a certain console somewhere, but despite this, I feel a lot of them looked really good.

So, I have a proposition!

SE, would it be possible, at some point in the future, to implement the Final Fantasy XI racial gear? Dyable would be ideal, since there were two tiers of racial gear to choose from for each race within the game. Bringing them into the game could be done via an event (such as the past FFXI events we've had), the mog station, or even through crafting or dungeon drops. It would cater to player nostalgia while also affording more gear options for glamour.


I am well aware that there would be no racial representation for Au Ra, since there was no similar race from FFXI. As such, they might be able to share a set with another race, or race locks for specific gear could potentially be done away with? Alternatively, another set of gear from the game that isn't race locked could be used for them, such as the Jaridah Peti Set.

We've already seen two sets from FFXI brought in already, but those were class specific ones. It would be lovely to see more, especially of the starter sets from before. I'm fully aware that this will take a lot of time to do, time that might be better spent on other content, but one can wish, ye? = v =) ♥

What do you think? If there is a FFXI set you're wanting to see, do you have one in mind? I love everything in Aht Urhgan and, well, everywhere. >x>;; But especially that expansion.

I wont touch the racial stuff, since people will just say we already have it. I guess what I'll say about it, is that there could be another set? Kinda how XI sorta did it, where you have the level 1 stuff then you had the other set that had actual stats on them at 30-40. Probably wont get the stat thing since it'll be a stating nightmare but having more racial vanity isn't a horrible idea.

As for other sets I'd like to see. Homam/Nashira definitely (Headpieces are a little questionable). Potentially the earthen abjuration set (ebody) (mainly cause I miss wearing my ebody with the homam set lol). Since koenig is in the game, I dont see it as being unreasonable.

And yes, gosh, the Homam pieces. :Q I'd love to see how good it looks in XIV's engine. As far as gear sets that aren't race locked go (because you do bring up a good point about that), I'm a fan of pretty much every Jupon set in the game. Crow/Raven in particular. It's sort of similar to what the company tabard looks like, but I believe the sleeves are different? They always looked so warm and comfortable, like the caster tops.

Sadly though, I do not see this happening, and not just because there would be none for au ra - there would be no gear for male miqo'te, nor female roegadyn, as their facial equivalents in FFXI (mithra and galka respectively), were only playable with one gender (female mithra and galka were virtually asexual but were generally considered to be 'male'), so that kind of throws a few spanners in the proverbial works. Not to mention some of the races are a lot different in physical appearance (namely, roegadyn do not have a tail which the galka had and which galka racial gear compensated for). Needless to say, I do not see FFXI racial gear being added to FFXIV.

Having said that though, we already have FFXI Koenig armour in FFXIV as the 'Wootz' armour (as Genbu mentioned), so it would not surprise me if more FFXI armour is added (personally I'm hoping for Iron Musketeer's armour/adaman armour and the eisenburst set myself, plus the opaline and novennial/ducennial dresses for ladies (and the equivelant tuxedoes/suits for the men). :)

I didn't play FFXI, but I've looked into the gear/clothing sets that you've described and think that it'd be a great idea. Personally, I'd prefer to see it as a craftable option, and those races that don't have an FFXI representation (Au Ra, male Miqo'te, female Roegadyn, and any others) could receive a little bit of art and design dedication.

XI veterans will probably have a bit weightier opinions than my own, but I think the aesthetic would carry over super well to FFXIV and Eorzea. An homage to XI design that would fit in extremely well!

The Homam set would be amazing.

So, why not make the unique racial gear of FFXI multiracial?

Scorpion harness? Adaman Hauberk? I'll take both of those

Overall, I kinda like the gear designs in 14 better though.
