My ideas for improve the Astrologian
Hi everyone, I would like to expose to you my changes concerning the job Astrologian, who I think lack little things to become great.
Destiny Disk
First of all, the big change will be the use of the Destiny Disk (Duel Disk), you know that thing the Astro have with his globe but who don't use it.
So, with this, the Astrologian will obtain a new hotbar similar to the Pet. But this particular hotbar have only 5 emplacements available. On this hotbar, each time he draw a card*, it will be added to this hotbar.
To use a card, you have to click on the card. To use Royal Road or Shuffle, click on the spell and then click on the card.
With this Destiny Disk, the skill Spread become useless and will be remove finally from the Astrologian class skills.
Cards
Now, here the changes for the cards.
We all know Spear is not very efficient and I will change it for :
- The Spear : "Increases target's critical hit rate by 10%. Duration : 20 sec."
I will add two new cards with a new Royal Road effect which are :
- The Fountain : "Refreshes target's HP. Potency : 100. Duration : 18 sec."
- The Mirror : "Switch the stance of the Astrologian." This can be apply only on the user of the card.
Royal Road effect : Next card used will remain on the Destiny Disk.
New Skills
With Spread removed, I will replace it by a damage spell.
Shooting Star : "The Astrologian throws all his cards from the Destiny Disk and deals light damage in line in front of him with a potency of 50 x number of cards thrown (max 300). Then, the Astrologian draws the equivalent of half of discarded cards rounded to the next whole."

Cooldown : 120 sec
Range : 25y
Radius : 3y

- 2 card thrown, 1 card drawn
- 3 card thrown, 2 card drawn
- 4 card thrown, 2 card drawn

I decided to rework Collective Unconscious as following :
Collective Unconscious : "Creates a wheel of fortune around the caster, granting the effect ot the following cards for any party member who enters and stay inside it. Can only be executed when a Sect is active. Auto-attack ends upon execution. Effect ends upon using another action or moving. When the wheel of fortune disappears, the effects disappear as well."
- Diurnal Sect : The Bole, The Ewer, The Spire, The Fountain
- Nocturnal Sect : The Balance, The Arrow, The Spear
Duration : 15 sec.

Cooldown : 180 sec
Radius : 10y

What the purpose of all of this changes :
- Astrologian could handle better the situations because of Destiny Disk ;
- The possibility to switch stance and prepare the mecanics with more efficiency .
- Nocturnal Sect will be no longer "weak" compared to Diurnal Sect because of the access of The Fountain (HoT) and the big contribution of Collective Unconscious it give to the team for DPS.
- The use of Collective Unconscious depends of the stance.
- Shooting Star permit to give the missing DPS to be competitive with White Mage and Scholar.
* Each card drawn is totally random and you can have the same card many times on your Destiny Disk.
Furthermore, it would be too strong to have access to Destiny Disk outside of the battle (and prepare 5 cards), I think, it should be accessible only when the fight is engaged. That's mean, Astrologian can't draw outside of the battle.
Or at the very least, he could have accessed to 1 or 2 emplacements of the Destiny Disk just to permit him to prepare a little bit his strategy.
