I would love this so much and it could actually give chocobos some use. It could also make soloing easier if you had a choco-friend to be around with you!
Maybe they could go through accelerated exp as well? Or none at all.

I can see where having your chocobo out with you inside the dungeon could be helpful, even if, as Miles stated, they "stand in the stupid." A healer bird wouldn't be too different than having Eos or Selene, and a tank or dps bird would help healers going solo. For all of their faults, some people actually like using their chocobos in combat.
