U/U Gear gaining stats From spiritbonding

Some people seem to want to put materia on U/U gear but i think it should stay crafter only, what i suggest is if you Spirit bond max an U/U item it makes the existing stats on the item better.

For example the Sipahi Turban would become +10 STR -6 enmity and +6 wind resist. These are the stats before the item becomes stronger Str +5 enmity -3 and wind resist +3.

I don't agree with OP, however. Maybe if it charged into doing a special ability or you'd be able to activate that bonus for an hour or two it'd make sense, but charging SB isn't hard at all if you'd have to do it once.

what they could do is make it a lot harder to max spiritbond on U/U gear than it is on normal gear

They could make the charge time for SB slower for U/U gear, The reason why i suggested this is because some people want materia to U/U but i Materia should stay crafter only. Doing it this would make some U/U gear more sought out, the stat increase does not have to be as extreme as i said.

If it's not as extreme, then maybe. It'd still be a one-time thing, which is what I take issue with.

Something that was mentioned a ways back came to mind with this talk about spirit bonding influencing stats. Perhaps gear could have tiers of spirit bonding, where tier I goes from 0 to 100%. tier II 101% to 200%, and so on up to tier V. Each tier improves the stats in some way, and perhaps each tier has a slower and slower growth rate or maybe the catch is if you die while wearing the gear, you lose a single tier (never dropping below 100%, mind you).

Why?

What benefit is this serving?
