The Feast season 1 ends July 19th, ladder page unavailable starting July 12th

A pretty interesting development, although I don't think anything Square does at this point can revive what is already dead.

Let's just face the facts, getting into the top 100 previously depended a lot on sub top 100 people beating top 100 players to take their spot. Without that it is incredibly hard to climb. Imagine current rank 1's trying to climb higher than their current rating and then imagine a sub top 100 player trying to climb without the top 100 playing. It just isn't really conceivable.


Now you may tell me that this is still a good thing, but I don't believe it is. Combine a climate where no one is queuing with a invisible ladder you now make the situation so much easier for win traders to flourish. All that SE has accomplished by making the ladder invisible is that now we as a community can't spot the win trading as it happens, which is a huge mistake due to recent scandals regarding party play.

I really believe the only way to revive The Feast in any way is to end the season sooner and give better incentives for people to play for season 2. What they are doing now only promotes shady behavior that flourishes the best in a dead scene.

the invisible ladder thing is yet another bizarre idea that gets in the way of people actually wanting to play. really, this whole season is a great example of things NOT to do if you don't wanna ruin a good mode. normally that'd be something you'd think you'd take into account to fix for the next time around, but wolves' den also had many obvious flaws that the dev team never seemed to learn from.

I can kind of understand them blacking out the solo standings even though its not gonna do jack as the top 100 have already quit weeks ago. There's just not enough players interested in Feast below the top 100 to make a big enough stir of activity without the aid of the top 100 (I initially thought there might be weeks ago but after weeks of inactivity it seems I was wrong and there aren't). This is compounded by the fact that the PVP regulars that aided in the queues by PVP'ing an abnormally frequent amount of times (some of these ppl have queued for over 500+ matches lol) are no longer queuing and have no reason to. Besides the fact that losses in gold or higher affect your rating more than wins do, you would also have to run the risk of not being able to recover from losses because of the terrifyingly bad queue times atm if you queue now while being in the top 100. If SE really wants to try to fix this they need to make ranking decay after a certain period. Making the season shorter doesn't really do anything on its own (people will still only queue till they reach 1100 points and just quit again).

The party rankings on the other hand were a joke before this and will be even more of a joke after this when people win trade their way in unseen. The fact that there are still silver ranked players within the top 30 of every data center is embarrassing and speaks to the lack of competition found in party feast. Its a mode the majority just doesn't seem to care about based on the lack of activity and competition found in it throughout the season.

I pretty much agree, now people won't exactly know what is happening with the ladder. If you don't see movement then why should you play? It is a unnecessary risk especially when no one has qued for about a month. The only thing they can do to revive interest is to restart.

This right here. This decision absolutely baffles me and makes me wonder if they did read my post on boosting and go "hm, we're not going to do anything, so let's take away the community's ability to do anything too, we don't need their reports anyway."

Only thing I can see is they want people to actively play more at the top of the ladder, making them think others are catching up, when in reality, The Feast is dead. Atreus pretty much summed up what will happen. But wait, to spot those shady win traders, will people be playing solo again to make sure they don't make it up top?! Who knows...

Nope. It's not the players job to police this crap. If people are able to turn these rankings into the PVP equivalent of verminion rankings then it just means there will be no season 2 as the majority probably won't even bother if boosting is seen as protected.

Man i should have really stopped playing when i broke top 100... I haven't been able to find a game since and it's frustrating because all i want to do is the feast. I Hope next season goes much better. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing with all of you this season.
