Random/Chaos thread?

A thread to speak good old hate against the ludicrous bull**** that is random/chaos rules?

Isn't it brilliant design when all the decisions a player can make are 99% removed from a mini game? Isn't it even better when the NPC only has a 15min window where you can play TT with them? Doesn't it get even, even better when the drop rate, for a victory, if you're lucky enough to win under random/chaos, for the card you want is incredibly low?

Isn't that just so much fun?

I will admit the chaos and random rules I can live with, but I agree giving both to a npc that only allows you play against once an hour is.. more than frustrating. Either up the drop rate- or the reward money for winning against these opponents.

They ruined the card game with Random / Chaos. It's so stupid how it will just stack you with one and two stars while the other person gets a full set of 4 and 5 stars. What the hell is the point. You just sit there playing for an hour straight hoping you get lucky enough to have a decent hand. This is why I'm done with what should have been a fun game on the side...but turned out to be a frustrating disappointment.

OMG this. I even had an NPC able to break the rules under this, where they had 2 freaking Bahamuts! But there are so many NPCs who are random that I wonder why we can even make our own decks.

What bothers me more is whenever someone complains about this, others chime in with how you can still beat NPCs no matter how bad your deck is.

the real problem i have with that is yes, you probably can win, but not because you are playing good, only because our opponent is playing bad. when the NPC doesn't make any stupid mistakes you can't win with a 1-2 star deck aganist a 4-5 star deck. except you are playing with plus and / or same.

Couldn't agree more, I didn't collect all these cards, an build all these decks so the game could abuse a set of rules. It ain't fun. There is no challenge, its all luck and mistakes by the AI. It doesn't matter sometimes either. They can place stupid, but then your chocobo or w/e random card you have to take there 5 star has a huge weak side open.

Worst rules in the game, and they aggravate an already broken system. You have NPCs that cheat in the most literal sense - they have more high rank cards than you possibly can, and their "random" pulls from their tiny pool of awesome cards as opposed to a full range of 1-star cards like you. It divorces almost any sense of strategy in choosing your cards, since you choose neither the deck nor the card you play. It's stupid, plain and simple. It takes what can be a fun game and turns it into pure RNG.
