Housing refunds and rules about returning Gil and property

I bought a house in goblet. I moved in real life. I did not have internet for a while after I moved. After my house was demolished apparently you only have a week to get your money back from a vendor. Why can't you just mail it to the player, at the least mail the Gil back if not the items. I can see where it may be difficult to mail the items back. I originally wrote the fm in game to try and figure out why this is so, and if they would fix the problem for me. They sent me a email with fill in the blanks for my info to open a investigation to see if I can get my gil back. I filled in the blanks and was given a "im sorry we can not address your request email. I replied back to read the email that was sent to me because it clearly tells me to give my information and how much was spent on the house and time it was lost. I was then told I just can't get my gil back after 3 days of emails and back and forth. The fact that you only have 1 week to get Gil back is absurd.

That does sound terrible. I thought it was 45 days or something like that. Just out of curiosity, what size? Small you can probably easily make up. Medium would be hurting. Large, well....

When the demo timers are active, you have 45 days to enter your house to reset the time. If you don't and your house is auto-demolished you then have 35 days after that to collect your items and gil from the resident caretaker. (source) While that's how it does work, I don't feel there should be a time limit on collecting your items/gil from the npc.

There's also multiple emails sent out warning you about the process.

Which doesn't help the OP because he said he didn't have internet for a while after he moved.

This is just another fine example of why the current time limit of 45 days is just too short. There are many things that can happen that will pull you away from the game, or computer. 45 days only affords you a single month that you can skip out on subbing. If something happens, well, you get to look forward to coming back to losing all that hard work.

In my personal opinion 45 days is just fine. Housing is a very limited commodity, people need a chance to be able to get the housing, simply walking in the front door isn't exactly hard.

FF XIV doesn't even need installing and can be run from a USB drive so if you're going to be without Internet for 45 days, you just need to take it round to a friend/family members, run it and walk inside your house.

Where did you get your information from that you only have get a week to reclaim your items and gil? As another person said you have 35 days (4 weeks) to get your stuff from the housing NPC.
