Question about mahicnist (gauss barrel)

Should i always use it (as in always toggle)?

WM as bard is fine because 1 skill give you 230 potency, another give you 100 potency and refresh your target debuff, and last one give you 260 outright, all of it is usefull.

Gauss round doesnt sound impressive (its basically clean shot skill with same damage) and ricochet only give 100 potency if you only have 1 target (i could be wrong in this one because there is no way level 60 skill is this underwhelming)

As for 30% extra damage, the auto attack should cover it up if you dont toggle the gauss barrel (again i could be wrong in this one)

Can anyone help? I want to enjoy machinist but so far... Its nothing impressive

Most people will say it depends on the situation. During Wildfire bursts Gauss Barrel is a huge dps improvement. If you can get comfortable with toggling it on and off between bursts or just to apply Gauss Round, it'll be a slight DPS increase. If you can't be bothered, keeping it on at all times will still beat out never having it on.

Ricochet does 100 potency + 200 to all targets divided among all target in an area, including the original enemy. So, if there's only one enemy, he takes the full 300 potency attack.

Gauss Round has the same potency as Clean Shot, but is off global cooldown, so you can use it in between your main shots. 200 potency every 20 seconds oGCD is a pretty good damage boost, especially taking into account the extra 30% damage for GB and more from Increased Action Damage.

And remember, our attacks tend to have lower potency than Bards because our turret also deals quite a bit of damage. We also have more mobility in GB than Bards do in WM because when our shots proc, the next on is instant cast, so you're rarely standing still for too long.

I think the rule of thumb is that if you're forced to move for longer than 2 skill casts and your Slug or Clean aren't procced for instant use, switch it off until you're able to get your casted skills off with GB on. As for stance dancing in general, it's a great habit to get into when you're more comfortable with the class but it can be a lot of trouble for the 1-2~% damage increase it gives, which most MCH would probably explain to a newer MCH as extra curricular at best.

If you want to go into it, turn GB off when literally everything is on CD and you're going through your 1-2-3 without anything else, you can do this up until your CD's are coming off CD or Hotshot/Leadshot need to be reapplied, which case you can keep GB off for the Hot Shot, put back on GB and then reapply your Leadshot.

so thats how it work?, i always though it only deal 100 potency if there is only 1 enemy since the rest 200 is divided to other enemy (it didnt say anything about 300 total if there is only 1 target) >_>

Yeah, I wasn't sure at first, either, so I actually started paying attention to my combat log when using it. That's when I confirmed that a single enemy took the full potency, though it's divided into two separate hits. The the fullooltip isn't as clear on it.

If u watch ricochet carefully it hits the single enemy initially for 100 potency then again for 200. Bare in mind that only the first hit can crit with reassembled.

Sorry i derped i dont think reassembled works with ricochet xD sorry. Cant edit post coz on mobile. I think though that only first hit can crit on ricochet?
