Customizeable Weapons

For a while now players were wondering if we could have the option to break down a weapons elements (staffs, bows, guns, swords, shields) and customize them aesthetically.

I.E. You can have the option to 'Break Down' an "Ironworks Augmented Sword" with other weapons broken down to its base forms to have a sword with the hilt of the Ironworks Sword, the blade of a Steel Longsword and a pommel of a Viking Sword.

We already can change stats with Purple Weapons (Legendarys/Rares) and the new materia adjustment makes that easier but having customizeable weapons to change its aesthetic base will make players of all classes unique in and off itself.

I'm not even going to get into the concept of static models for weapons and the fact that it would take a ridiculous amount of work to do this, not to mention the data load of the game multiplying it's item database by at least triple in order to accommodate what is a virtually inane feature. We aren't even getting expanded inventories until the next expansion due to whatever data limitations, and your suggestion is to triple server load with a virtually useless glamour feature. I don't think that it's feasibly functional, and while I appreciate you wanting to express yourself creatively, I don't see a feature like this being implemented.

While I would like the idea of better customizabilty for my equipment, I agree with Judah, it's not feasable for them to do it.

Here I was thinking this would be a thread asking for the ability to obtain items to add glow effects onto weapons that did not have a glow effect.

In general trying to customize the base model itself is going to be nothing but problems, given that most weapon component elements wont get seen anyways and what most people care about are animations and glow effects rather then the base look of the weapon itself.

A basic longsword looks cooler with a eastern flame dragon snaking up its length and its very noticeable. No one will notice that the pommel (the bit below your hand) is from an ironworks magitek sword.

This wouldn't be feasible for equipment in general due to the fact that all weapons to date are single models and your suggestions would require they go back and divide all those models into multiple parts, and then ensure they all fit together correctly in modular fashion (this is an insane amount of work). What they could do though is offer this as a feature of future relic weapons. That would be a far more realistic task and something I could see happening at some point.

On a small scale, sure, it's possible. Doing it for every weapon would be unfeasible but doing it exclusively for a special weapon like a relic would be within the realms of possibility I'm sure.

You know, I'd personally love to remove the tassels from my Ninja relic...

They just feel wrong since they're static.
