pve vs. pvp reviving? wut?

Well, I’ve just had a strange time in PVP. Since it’s 2:30am, I figured I’d reg and I got into 24 man shatter. There was only one healer and someone asked in the party chat if someone else could heal… I was a bit hesitant at first but changed to WHM. Since I’m a primary DPS, I was a bit hesitant to do this but I tried my best – kept the debuffs off the people I could reach, topped up the health bars. All the things that I would have done if they were in a dungeon with me.

Then people died.

Again, let me remind you that I’m a primary DPS.

The first thing that came to mind, muscle memory really, was swiftcast + raise.

My mistake.

Apparently that’s not good enough in pvp?? At least people where getting healed! I had people in the chat bitching about it and being a bit snippy until I told them that I’m not normally a pvp healer and they seemed a bit mollified but not much.

The parting comment from the other healer was "please don't change to healer if you don't know what to do lol [...] id rather solo heal -.-"

So, can someone tell me what I did wrong? What’s the difference between a PVP and PVE rez?

PVE rez gives 2 minutes weakness debuff,

All those lowered stats make you an easy target for the enemies, you will almost definitely die a second time, your team will lose even more points and the enemies will gain more points and build their LB faster.

PVP rez or just respawn, but never ever ever PVE rez

As mentioned above regard the weakness debuff, that almost guarantees that player will die again .-. so you lose double the points as opposed to just respawning.

Something else to consider is putting your Divine Breath (I think that's the PvP rez) on a macro that announces that you're giving out a PvP / No Weakness rez, and to which target.

The HUD does not indicate whether you're receiving a PvP Rez or a standard rez when the pop-up confirmation box appears. If players are not told it's safe, many PvP players will automatically decline a rez, so they can just release and respawn, rather than risking reappearing in the middle of a skirmish with Weakness.

Against players with half a brain, if you are fighting with weakness, you're bound to get focused down and die. If you're implying that you simply stop fighting, it defeats the purpose.

With weakness unless you are a tank or stack vit (self-induced weakness efficiency) you are suspectable to get 1-shotted by a melee LB.

Preach my friend. This is exactly why I decline all raises unless I know the healer who raised and know they wont kill me or waste my time with anything other than PVP raise.

Raising in Frontlines is not necessary and most of the time it'll piss people off because they want heals, not raise.

Accepting raise is a waste of time as well. It's also slowing you down from returning to the base especially now we have to click and hold the cancel button.

Bah most players get killed by melee limit break anyways. The real question is how observant you are of the other players play style. Some players are ok with swift cast pve raise. Some players they don't need a raise, they need a dedicated healer because they think they are invincible.

But if you are unsure just don't use it. Mainly the people who bitch aren't worried about weakness. You are cutting into their potential kills. Kill chasers are generally the most miserable to heal and put up with.

From a group perspective, if, for example, your full party is bunkered down around an enemy's base and someone gets focused+lb'd, assuming divine breath is on CD, ofc having one party member debuffed is preferable over having one completely absent from the fight.

Its nothing to do with that, though. Fact is, DPS are selfish and more concerned with their capacity for scoring killing blows than helping the team win, hence why nobody else switched to healer. That you switched to a job you didn't queue as because you thought your group needed it is commendable and it sounds like they were acting like entitled d-bags, lol. Honestly, if pve raise was the only thing they could find to complain about you must not have been doing a horrible job.

Seems like lately half the matches I get tossed into nobody wants to heal. And I dont either. Queues are long and I want my title. So when someone does switch I try to keep in mind that they're doing the job that I don't want to...
