what is the purpose of eternal bond

besides getting the mount and gear and emote what else is there

Players wanted to get married and begged for it. Nothing really beyond that. There is also supposedly the benefit of a ring that you both wear that lets you teleport to wherever the other one is currently at

You don't have to actually wear the ring, just use it like Return ability, and this is honestly the best benefit of eternal bond. (If only the cool down were a little shorter...)

No but seriously, in general, eternal bond is a thing because marriage is a thing in RL. People like flashy weddings and binding people to themselves, be it friends or lovers.
Call it RP if you will (although only few people who are married ingame actually are roleplayers), or just a natural part of human life (in most cultures) so it would be weird to not want it just for the sake of having it in an online life.

As for rewards: there is also a minion and an extra hairstyle and the free teleport once per hour that odie mentioned.
Also, fun memories. Lots and lots of people come together for the wedding and the afterparties, new friendships are made, crazy stuff is said, everyone finally gets a reason to show off an especially weird glamour idea they had that still fits the clothing theme, and you can stockpile beautiful fireworks you can't get anywhere else (soap bubbles and balloons and the like ^-^). Or shoot them off and take the most beautiful screenshots with all your friends around :)

It's for fun, in a video game. No real gameplay purpose (except maybe the ring but that CD makes it a bit impractical, so that's really just for fun, too).

The ring is amazing. I don't see how anyone thinks the recast on it is impractical. I've easily used it over 100 times.

Well it's really handy when the cooldown isn't up, but the wait is so long...but yes it's quite handy when it works.

thou haven't done it (or had a want to) I'm just gona say "Reasons" like all meationed above & walk away... cause I have a few suspicion's about this thread
