Solo Ability
Reading someone else's post about solo story content got me thinking. Whats the best or the better job to solo with. I don't just mean things like fates, I mean as a whole in general?
Personally I think there can be only 1 clear choice. WAR. It has the HP pool, the defence, the attack and thr ability to self heal.
I really loved playing BST in XI. Is WAR my best chance to recreate that?

SCH. I used to solo a few dungeons back in 2.xx as SCH to spice up my relic. SCH is a naturally safer job to solo content with since it's a healing job and won't lack in that department. If you're not dead you can keep fighting. I imagine WAR getting to a point where it can not restore any more HP, especially if it's alot single target damage. Remember, Healers can actually solo Turn 5, I don't think a warrior can.
SCH also can easily equip VIT accessories if it needs more HP. The fairy is also an extreme plus as it can keep you going while you can just DPS. The damage also is very good since most of it is dot damage. Apply dot, heal, apply dot, heal. Not to mention the resources aren't heavy on SCH either.
WAR, extremely close to SCH, I think SCH still wins. It's alot safer than WAR.

SMN. You have a pet to tank damage and heals in a pinch.

SMN is great to solo.
PLD is awesome at later levels, but kind of eh early on.
DRG handles well with a chocobo healer (good for open world, duties can sometimes be hairy, but cross class skills help a lot.) Never underestimate the healing potency of AoE attacks under the influence of Bloodbath.
WHM with regen can take a beating and pump out damage.

I agree with SCH. I don't think anything can match its survivability.

Scholar and Warrior to be honest as much as I hate to admit it.

SMN more so due to Titan-egi its mini-tank & that fact its origin class was a healer role, next would be any of the 3 Tank classes due to high def with self-heals (Stoneskin+bloodbath for PLD till Clemency) after that any Healer cause self-heals for the win (thou some might be easyer than a tank to survive with on a playstyle-playstyle basis) for all the above thou its more on a "how fast can u kill u'r enemy before they kill u" thing being a healer lets u "stem the tide" were with Tanks its a "War of attrition" (low def on healer & high def on Tanks makes it about even)
this becomes a joke in open-world thou with Chocobo companions (SMN wins hands down then with SCH/WAR/PLD/DRK battling it out for 2nd & WHM/AST in 3rd... I say this cause as WHM I failed in a solo-Hakkure HM run were my PLD rocked it with no trouble, both were 190ish at the time)

SMN is faster , War middle ground and SCH safest
