Xbox One Discussions

Just some quick news regarding the possibility of an Xbox One version of FFXIV:

Final Fantasy 14 could find its way to the Xbox One if Microsoft is willing to tweak some of its regulations. According to Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida, Square Enix is currently in discussions with Microsoft.

"Microsoft actually approached the Final Fantasy 14 team about the cross-platform opportunity," Yoshida told Polygon. "When our team reviewed the regulations that are associated with that, we realized that Microsoft may not have the experience or understanding of running an MMORPG as an online game genre just yet."

The Final Fantasy 14 team expressed these concerns to Microsoft, saying there are "certain elements of its regulations that [Square Enix] would have to consider waived." The developer is currently awaiting Microsoft's response.

It never hurts to have a fresh batch of players experience such a great game. And it's been a long-time since FFXI's glory days. Those whimsical days where PC, Playstation, and Xbox players fought side by side. Though that game was cross-region as well ♪

I mean, these talks have been going on since the launch of 2.0.

These talks won't get anywhere unless Microsoft gets rid of this requirement

Along with the requirement to have XBL gold.

Wait for S or scorpion so we don't run into limiting factors because of old systems and SE already demo VR FFXIV titan battle.

I played FFXI on Xbox 360, it didn't require Live Gold.

That's why FFXIV wasn't on Xbox360/One. This time, Microsoft wanted players to require Gold to play and Square Enix said it would be unfair to double charge players with a monthly sub and Gold. Thus, FFXIV never went to Microsoft consoles.

Good news. :3 More players are always welcome.

The ball is in Microsoft's court, where it's always been. SE would love to open Eorzea to Xbox players, but Microsoft has to get off their high horse and realize it's SE's game and play by the same rules as PC and Sony.

Not going to happen. DCUO recently launched on XB1, and servers are still separate due to them requiring XBL subscription. Keep in mind DCUO is a F2P MMO, so I dont see them letting go of XBL thing for FFXIV.

Not just that. YP didnt wanna separate the playerbase meaning XBL players would be isolated.
