7 fps--anything else I can change in System Config?

Yes, 7 fps, game card is a Radeon HD 8240 with latest driver (3/21/16). Ran dxdiag on no issues reported. Following an earlier post, I went to System Config and turned off Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field. Any other tweaks I can try from the game end?
I did find a post by an nVidia user about adjusting settings on that card to ffxiv; tried to navigate the Radeon settings to a similar point but no luck. Have help request in at AMD.

Probably not. The 8240 is a very low end onboard GPU and really doesn't meet the minimum requirements for this game. You can find the system requirements here: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/heavensward. Have you been able to play the game with higher FPS before?

If you have a PS3/4 you can play there, otherwise you'll probably need a new PC to get any sort of playable performance.

Best shot you can give it is set directx9 on launcher, use minimal settings, and play at a low resolution/fullscreen.

Esp. Dracian for pointing me toward Heavensward system requirements in the graphics card area. For the Radeon cards, minimum is the HD 4770. recommended is the HD 7950 or higher. These numbers they put on are really meaningless, an 8240 doesn't sound like it should be so low end but apparently it is.

The only confusing thing would be AMD, it may seem strange to you but HD 4770 is actually about 4x better than you HD 8240 card, the number deceive a lot of people.

Their naming conventions do suck. But after awhile you get used to them. In the older (4 number) cards the first number is the generation of the card. So your 8000 series card is actually newer than a 7000 series, but that doesn't mean much. The 2nd number in the chain is really the most important one. A 7850 is more powerful than your 8240. The last two numbers are variants of the card (higher is better). So a 7870 is better than a 7850, but a 7950 is better than the 7870. This MOSTLY holds true.

Now they've swapped to a slightly different naming method. There's R5, R7, and R9 series. R5 and R7 are typically weaker low-to-mid range GPUs that aren't really made for gaming. The R9 series is the main gaming series. In that case the first number is the generation and the next two numbers are the real card power. For example: R9 380 < R9 380x < R9 390 < R9 390x. However, just to make things confusing, AMD likes to re-use cards across generations. For example, my R9 380 is almost identical to the R9 285 from the previous generation. Also note that a R9 290 would be stronger than an R9 380, though it is older.

Hope that makes sense, it's a bit convoluted if you haven't been into AMD cards before.

Yep. Same is true for nVidia as well.

First number is the generation. Second number is the card strength within that generation. ti is a grade for a performance increase within a card range revision (i.e. gtx 660ti or gtx 980 ti)

So GTX 480 > GTX 710
GTX 780 > GTX 960
Etc.

And it's all moot because this 8240 card is installed in an HP Slimline pc, which cannot accommodate the more powerful cards. Left my main pc on the other coast, with its sweeet nVidia card. In a few months it and I will be reunited. I'm actually surprised i got two characters to level 50 with this kind of performance. Again, thanks to all who weighed in.

The low profile GTX 750ti is an amazing card for systems like that.

It fits those small cases, sips power, runs cool, and doesn't require any additional power connectors.

Plus it can run FFXIV at 30+ FPS on max settings @ 1080p
