Why is Yoshi-P's team repeating the original developer's mistakes?

FFXIV comes out - every item that drops off a mob can be used in something.

Great. Wonderful. Fits the whole idea that crafters are actually a class.

However, every item requires around 5 different materials, and each material has 3 different grades of quality. Leaving the realm of great.

Inventory fills up ridiculously fast, and with such a wide variety of items and no auction house, the system is cumbersome and stupid.

Quality of materials +1 and +2 are removed. Regardless, new developers still notice how ridiculous the sheer number of items there are in game and increase backpack size to 200. This is a bandaid to fix a much larger problem.

Now... You would think the new development team would learn from the mistakes which got them into this mess to begin with, right?

Wrong.

Each level of each materia have a multitude of variable qualities, making it so they do not stack.

I'll never understand how these people have jobs.

tl;dr In 2.0, when it comes out in four years, we will all have 9000 inventory spaces and 12 retainers because all end game loot will have 25 different variable grades of quality for no reason. Yipee!

Op is right there is loads of info on how items are being stream lined. +2 items have been nixed as of a few patches ago. As well craft recipes have been changed to use less items. As well lots of items have also been removed from drop tables from both mobs and gathering nodes. So our sarcastic friend is right in their post.

Materia is a bit weird. I feel like the whole item system has been fragged to hell, tbh.

There's too many weird rules now which cropped up as iterations on the old system (such as restrictive gear and too much rare/ex gear and 25 or so grades of each materia). Seems like there are all these incompatible ideas floating around and instead of producing a solution, more problems are added instead.

Honestly if you are hording materia then idk what to tell you lol. I see no reason to keep shit you don't need.

who said you have to hold on to all that Materia? why in the hell would you keep it all in the first place, make what you will use, sell the rest.
