Recommendations on the 205 gear requirement?

TL;DR - Recent 60, how to get the ilv 205 required for the main story?

Recently came back to the game, hit 60, saved up the Esoterics with the daily roulette, ran Void Ark, sitting at full 200 with a 210 ring, and 3.3 hit.

Now the next thing requires item level 205. Honestly I'm dumbfounded by the decision to nudge up the iLv requirement by 5 at this particular point of the story. Feels quite like a slap to the face.

I don't have the gil to buy those 220 gear and meld them (I'd like to save the money for my Anima weapon and public housing in 3.4---knowing Yoshida he'll price it at a few million gil and call it "affordable"), and I haven't started any of the Alexander raids (got the quest to go in the very first floor, A1N?).

What would be the recommended path for me to proceed?

My first thought was to farm the new dungeons for 215, but luck hasn't been on my side recently, so I'm thinking about grinding Void Ark---at least it's guaranteed.

I also heard people say that Midas is dishing out 220 freebies, but I don't know its difficulty. I wouldn't want to invest whole weekends now just to find out that Midas Normal DF is a mess or that nobody's really doing the Normal mode anymore.

So I guess the exactly question I'd like to ask is this:

Which would you recommend?

1. Farm Void Ark to get 205 and just dive into the story trial. This will get through the story fine.
2. Start Alexander, then do Gordias, then farm Midas normal and pray. Gonna need those 220 anyway for other current content.
3. Keep farming the new dungeon for 215. There's really no point upgrading the Esoterics now.

Clear rates on Midas, while not flawless (mainly A7 is where most of the problems lie) are much better than what Gordias used to be. I wouldn't be too scared of it.

Essentially, using your words, "Midas is dishing out 220 freebies". Avoid VA, it drops i200 gear. You get a farthing that ups one thing to 210, so your call on running it at least once. Run roulettes that offer you lore, get enough for a ring at least and get ilvl up.

Just some things off the top of my head.

New expert dungeons drop 215 and require 200. You'll get lore with it that you should get to gear, too. Plus with all the new people there are bound to be eso bonuses on top of it.

Eso for 200, Void Ark to upgrade Eso gear to 210.
Midas for 220. M3 has a way of being a disaster, but the rest seems to run smoothly from what I've seen.
New dungeons for 215.
Lore tomestones for 230.
Keep an eye out for deals on 220 gear. You don't have to overmeld them for usability. Using the standard materia slots is great though.
