Lower Level Gear?

Hello all, I am just now starting to get into FFXIV after ignoring it since Open Beta. I've been reading up on it though for the last few days since I decided to purchase it.

I read the NM's are pretty easy to camp now, since they are on a resonable timer. However, after doing some research, I am not quite sure if there are lower level NMs that can help out a lot(i.e. Leaping Lizzy and the Emporer Mosuito guy in Valkurm from FFXI).

Looking at the NM's now, they seem to be all AT LEAST lvl 30+ to solo, mostly a duo of 40 or so. Am I missing some NM's(Easily could happen), or should I just keep grinding and get to that level 35 or so sweet spot?

Also, are there any significant items I should be trying to get my hands on on the trip? I am not quite sure what I should be focusing on, although it seems like Evasion is an easy enough stat to get up.

Finally, which categories in the market ward should I be searching under for our armor? The greatest success I have found is Lower Level Tailoring, but it seems like that isn't quite where I should be looking.

P.S. Since I am not sure if it shows in my post or not, I am a level 18 PUG(Probably be 20 by end of day)

The only special gear you can get before the lower roaming NMs would be from Shposhae. It's a lower-level dungeon outside Limsa Lominsa. There are currently a bunch of players in your level range when I'm on, so you may be able to get a party together if you shout.

Your weapons will be sold in the Battlecraft area of the markets. The +evasion armor that you'll probably want will be in Lower Tailors (1-20), Middle Tailors (21-40), and Upper Tailors (41-50).

I decided to go back to Shposhae after going there a few nights ago and seeing only one other premade group there. I just soloed bats for awhile and left. I am currently there again, pretty much alone as far as I can tell, just killing Grippers right now.

Are there any camps I should know about? Another thread said you could kill Crabs at 19-22, I think I am about to head there so I can kill mobs close to my level and get those sweet, sweet chains.

Well, you can keep going along the road past Cedarwood to Camp Bloodshore. I'm pretty sure I saw things in the early 20s up that way. If/when YG updates we can start getting mob positions online again.

We do have mosquito (or at least mosquito-like) monster in FFXIV though and they're annoying as hell.

As for the NMs which drop useful gear, there are many, but yes most of them are 30+. So I would suggest crafted gear or NPC store-bought gear until you're in that range. There's a Nighthawk Visor that's a head equipment lv 20, though. I've been using that since I was 20, and now still using it on many of my classes. You might want to bring a bunch of friend if you want to get it early. NM Nest Commander can be a handful.

Low level gear what is that? But in all honesty I dont bother with low level gear anymore. i just kill the low level NMs and use that instead.
