Why doesn't SE just pay gil farmers 1 USD per million gil, which is then deleted?

Theoretically, the problems with gil farming/selling are:

A. It's cheating, and unfair to people who don't want to buy gil. So people should not be allowed to buy gil.

B. The advertising, which is constant and subscribers do not pay to see.

The problem is not people trying to make a living by selling gil.

The reasons this is a great idea will be listed below:

If SE were to pay 1 USD per million gil

A. Gil only goes for about 2 USD per mil, according to the constant ads. I'm sure most of that goes to the gil farmers boss, not the gil farmer. So 1 USD per million gil would likely be a comparable deal for the farmer, with a guaranteed customer. As a result, most farmers would choose to sell to SE.

B. Because SE would always be the buyer of gil, there is no longer a need for people selling gil to advertise. The customer is constant.

C. Because SE would always be the buyer of gil, players are no longer the buyers, eliminating the cheating aspect of selling gil.

D. Financially, this is a wise decision for SE because it eliminates advertising and cheating and ensures the continued subscriptions/use of service by gil farmers for the low price of 1 USD per million gil.

Everyone wins, except the bosses of the gil farmers who are making their share via marketing.

Like SE is going to pay money to gill sellers, do you hear yourself?

Why not? Instead of offering a rhetorical retort that appeals to the lowest common denominator, why not try to refute my actual argument?

Basic economics. Removing most of the supply but none of the demand won't make the market doesn't vanish into thin air. It'll just raise the price that they charge players. Which will lead to less selling to SE and the gil sellers going back to the players.

Most RMT accounts are fraudulent, so on top of them not giving actual money to SE for the subscription, SE will be paying them gil.

Bots can generate gil fast enough that they would be making much more than a subscription cost. This leads to more bots = more load on servers = higher operating cost.

Just let SE deal with them as they are. I understand on low pop servers its a huge problem with RMT spam and the like, every other MMO out and ones that have ever existed have and have had RMT, and deal with them accordingly. You can't stop them forever, they come back, and will keep coming back. SE isn't immune to this either, and thinking that they can 100% stop RMT is a pipe dream. Continue to do what you can, Blacklist and report and stay vigilante. If players stop reporting them, GM's actually have to find them, which can take them longer to ban. Just trust that SE is doing what they can...
