What happened to OMEGA?

so does anyone remember the massive plot point of 2.4 (i think it was 2.4 or 2.5) where they wanted to get information of a ancient weapon called OMEGA, and then nothing D:

all jokes aside, what did happen to omega, was this plot point dropped? or do you think we may get him as a trial or mount

I think they meant Omega Weapon, the super version of Ultima Weapon. Looks more like this:

As far as we know, it is still sleeping under Carteneau Flats (we PvP on top of him in the original Frontlines modes...) and I have a feeling he'll be waking up when the Garleans become our primary enemy again.

In the void with Exdeath and Cloud of Darkness as their glorified refrigerator.

I'm sure it wasn't forgotten. Look at the time that spanned between Minfilia's offhand mention of Krile and when she actually showed up in the story, for instance.

I can see omega becoming active when shinryu arrives or vice versa.

We need more hints on the PVP lore :(

I want to know more about it, but it seems we'll have to wait longer still! maybe on 3.5 or even next expansion.

Personally I think it's just a throwaway Mcguffin used to explain why the Grand Companies are fighting over the Carteneau Flats without outright saying "they're at war with each other."

Besides, being an Allagan relic, it's highly likely it's probably little more than a wreck that no one in Eorzea would even be anywhere capable of getting back up and running again even if they wanted to, other than possibly Cid and the Ironworks, and they would definitely refuse to even touch it (remember, Ultima Weapon needed extensive magitek modifications made by Nero before the Garleans could use it, so it's highly likely Omega Weapon would be the same, being buried for thousands of years and all).

They'll get to Omega eventually, I'm sure. I'm also positive we haven't seen the last of Lolorito after Teledji-Adeledji's aftermath, and any plans the Garleans have yet up their sleeves.

As an aside, I do hope it's actually Omega and not another Weapon. The robot has always been way cooler from a design standpoint.

I like to imagine that after the Death of [Spoiler], the project of unearthing Omega was given to someone else.
the process of digging him up is still on going since Omega was buried deep deep underground in some allag ruins.

Will it be a MSQ that brings omega out. or will it be an endgame dungeon.

i wait eagerly to find out.
