About Scholar's Third Limit Break: Angel Feathers

I suddenly interest with this fairy, it's different with Eos and Selene which have butterfly wings but with angel wings. Anyone know who is this fairy? Is this the combination of both fairy?

Eos and Selene are often spoken of as if they're different faeries, but they're really just different aspects (read: stances) of the same being.

Raises often have angel wings associated with them, and even the LV50 relic for SCH (Last Resort) ends up having them.

So, for SCH's LB3, the Faerie glows white, gets angel wings, and everyone is raised.

I'm not sure if there's more to it, though - there might be!

(Also, I also wish I could use the angel winged faerie as a glamour, but hey.)

In truth it would be interesting to learn more of the nature of fairies. Its safe to say they are a form of Arcane entity and Lily is the only one we have ever met but I wonder if they were originally shaped by magic ala Carbunkles or if they naturally occur. Maybe we will learn more from either the lore book or from future Job quests.

It is kind of interesting that Lily's aspects seem to correlate with the Sects ASTs use, though Selene doesn't offer any additional Mitigation.

Its interesting...thinking about their abilities, they seem to be more opposite the AST sects.

Eos (dawn) has a regen (whispering dawn), but also magic mitigation (more like Nocturnal), and the healing buff (which is something Noct stance gives natively)

Selene (dusk) only relevant skill is the speed boost (Fey wind? Yeah...I haven't played SCH in a long time and can't remember the names of abilities :( ) which is natively granted by Diurnal Sect.

It's another recurrence of astral and umbral. The duality of light and (not-evil) dark runs through virtually all forms of magic on Hydaelyn.

Indeed, MNK's Chakra, BLM's Magic (and BLM/WHM in general), AST sects, PLD/DRK. This motif persists thought the Jobs, as well as other aspects of the game

Well, I figured I'd help you out a bit, Anonymoose. While yes, that's likely the whole of it for FFXIV's universe, it's not so cut in dry for the series as a whole. Angel Feathers, like most of the limit breaks has an identity outside of FFXIV. In this case, it's the ability of the rarely occurring summon, Seraph. It functions rather similarly, restoring the party's HP and in later games it also removes KO like it does here. But, while the name just simply that, fairies have been summoned in the past in the series. Again, they seem to restore HP and remove KO with their signature abilities (it varies game to game).

With this in mind, one could theorize that Angel Feathers is Lily's ultimate spell, but to use it, she needs much more aether than the Warrior of Light has to give her. This most likely means that when a Scholar uses Angel Feathers, what they are doing is giving Lily the aether she needs to take on an angelic form and use Angel Feathers herself. This could be seen as converting Lily into miniature primal. The name, how Limit Breaks function, and the situations where you would be using Angel Feathers makes me think that Angel Feathers is one of the most awe-inspiring limit breaks, since it shows absolute faith between the Scholar and their fairy. The Scholar is trusting their fairy with an absurd amount of power and potential for abuse, while the fairy is trusting the Scholar to reel her back in if she goes overboard with that aether and starts to become a true primal.

I have always assumed this is lily summoned whole in Angel Feather, rather than just selene and eos which are just aspects of lily. I could be completely wrong and it may have no basis in lore (or maybe it does) but thats what i have always assumed.

I also find Lilly and her race to be something that could turn out to be maybe very interesting, maybe it is being saved for the future though.

I mean we are exploring the Mhachi right now with Void Ark, so maybe the 4.0 Raid will be all about the other half and Nym? (A guy can hope)

Couldn't an angel be a higher format of fairy? Getting filles with all that LB power causes your lily to evolve.
