As I myself have tons of questions regarding this exciting-sounding new content, I've decided to spearhead a Q & A thread for the Palace of the Dead! For anyone who may have answers, by all means share and let's get hyped for this! (I'm aware it'll be 3.35 content)
My first and biggest question is, as far as solo mode goes, might we be allowed to bring our chocobo? Especially those of us (read: MCH) with no skills/cross class abilities whatsoever to heal ourselves?
That there is a pretty good question. Since we of course can't have the true answers to most questions, only theory crafting, I would go and say no.
Reason?
Most areas currently where you can summon your chocobo are areas you can mount them as well. And I highly doubt mounts will be avaliable in there. We could get special healing items to help along the way for people that are able to solo far enough in.
For me, what my question will be:
Since we know our weapon will gain levels in there (or we do, I forget..), what will be the maximum level we will be able to reach?
If it is indeed our weapon that gains levels, and we'll be able to use them for glamour purposes outside of the Palace, it's interesting to know just how high we will be able to rise. Depending on the stats, anything over ilvl 200 might be better than artifact weapons :p
How does gaining levels work exactly? Does it involve simply descending deeper, meaning that there's no reason to kill more mobs than necessary?
Does it work like exp where you get a certain amount for every enemy defeated, adding incentive to obliterate everything on your path?
Is there any chance of running into special bosses/NPCs there? (i.e. Edda, the guy from the Lancer quests, perhaps legacy characters/bosses/creatures?)
Also, while I personally am not as interested in them, will there be crafting/gathering mats unique to the Palace? Gil rewards?
