companion not gaining xp

I leveled him up in the sables, used the onion, and increased his cap. Now though he doesnt gain any XP. any help would be nice^^

When does he not gain any XP, in the stables or in fights?

You can only cap exp for a level in the stables, they never level up there. To level them up you need to take them out and kill a mob. After that, feed the onion.

yes i did max his XP in the stables, and yes i did get him to rank up outside the stables. i gave him the onion while still in the stables before the rank up outside the stables. Now he doesn't gain any xp inside or outside the stables.
when i try to train him, a window pops up saying "Further training will not result in additional EXP unless the cap is raised. continue training?" He is rank 13 3stars with 0/2217000 exp.

Max XP > Rank Up > Feed Onion

If you feed onion before the rank up part, you waste it. You need to feed another one.

You would have had to feed him onions two times before to get to rank 13. This isn't anything new to you.


In case you forgot, you train it with a thavnarian onion in the stables to increase its XP cap which you had to have done twice before...


What I think happened is you have the onion before the rank up. You gave it too soon. You'll need to feed it another onion.
